About this file

This document is a Question and Answer (Q&A) file related to a hazardous materials technician training contract solicitation issued by the Nevada Department of Public Safety/Fire Marshal Division (FMD). The solicitation seeks proposals from qualified vendors to provide a minimum of 160 hours of Hazardous Material Technician Level training over four consecutive weeks, with up to 30 students per class. The training must adhere to the 2022 Edition of NFPA 470 (Chapter 11) and be approved by the FMD. The contract will be for a term of four years, commencing January 1, 2025.

The Q&A file addresses a question regarding the provision of equipment, with the answer indicating that the State will provide bunker gear and SCBA/bottles/refill stations, while the vendor is responsible for supplying all other necessary equipment, materials, and supplies. The solicitation is open to all qualified vendors, with no set-aside designations or restrictions on the types of organizations that can respond. The State will evaluate proposals based on the vendor's expertise and knowledge, availability of key personnel, ability to provide the required curriculum, and cost. The contract will be awarded to the vendor that best meets the State's requirements, which may not be the lowest priced proposal.
