About this file

This document is a Questions and Answers file for a Submersible Waste Pumps project issued by the Illinois Secretary of State, specifically addressing a solicitation for pump replacements at two locations in Chicago. The project involves the purchase of 3 pumps and the installation of 4 pumps at 5401 N Elston and 5301 W Lexington Street. The Q&A document clarifies three key technical aspects of the project: training requirements (indicating existing engineers are familiar with the system), pit cleaning logistics (confirming a vacuum truck can be used during working hours), and piping replacement (confirming only check valves will be replaced while existing piping can remain).

The file provides limited financial or comprehensive bidding details, focusing instead on technical clarifications for potential contractors. The questions suggest an ongoing dialogue between the project managers and potential bidders to refine project specifications and understand precise implementation requirements. No specific pricing, funding sources, or contract award dates are mentioned in this particular document, which appears to be part of a broader solicitation process for mechanical infrastructure improvements at state-owned facilities.

25-350SOS-PHYSE-B-46724

1. Training Session (1.2.8) Are you looking for a rep or someone from Weil to do an official training or will the contractor’s work force tell the engineers how it works?

Contract will be fine; the engineers already know how the system works for the most part.

2. (1.2.5) Clean the pit (access to the basement area, is a vac truck capable during working hours?)

Yes, we had a pump truck vacuum out for Elevator piston replacement with no issues.

3. (1.2.4) Replace with new check valves only. Is the rest of the existing piping ok to remain?

Yes
