About this file

This document contains questions and answers from a mandatory bidder's conference for Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS) Bid #45568, regarding auditorium seat replacement at the Illinois School for the Visually Impaired. The project involves removing existing auditorium seats and replacing them with new ADA-compliant seating in both the main level and balcony areas. The work must be completed by June 30, 2025, and can begin after contract signing. Work hours are typically 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM Monday through Friday, with the possibility of weekend work if approved by the Chief Engineer. The project includes the installation of 15 aisle lights (9 on the main level and 6 in the balcony).

The project is designated as a Small Business Set-Aside Program opportunity. The existing seats must be removed and relocated to the Vehicle Garage (Building 16) on campus, with rows to remain intact where possible. The west door has been identified as the primary access point for materials and equipment. The recently replaced carpet will not be included in the scope of work, and contractors must coordinate their work schedule around the school's use of the auditorium.
