About this file

This document contains questions and answers related to an ADDENDUM for a state and local contract opportunity for audio visual services issued by the Georgia World Congress Center Authority (Authority). The contract opportunity involves the provision of audio visual equipment and services for the existing Georgia World Congress Center facility. Key details include:

The Authority is seeking responses from firms specializing in audio visual services. The contract will involve the installation of a new direct-view LED screen in the Oglethorpe Auditorium, upgrades to the audio-visual systems in various meeting rooms and boardrooms, and the installation of assisted listening devices. The work will require coordination with a general contractor for some building modifications. The Authority has stated a preference for the use of the Crestron control system that was previously installed in the Trade Center Expansion project. Respondents may need to rent scissor lifts and dumpsters for the duration of the project, and the Authority will work with the selected contractor to provide secure on-site storage.

The document also provides clarification on technical specifications, including the required capacity of the digital signal processing equipment, audio routing, speaker zones, and fiber optic cabling distances. The Authority is open to considering alternative equipment recommendations from respondents where appropriate.

Below are answers to questions that were previously asked from the earlier bid.

Who shall be responsible for the removal of the rear projection screen in the Oglethorpe Auditorium? SCC- We would prefer the bidding company have a GC remove the screen.

Who shall be responsible for repairing the wall when the rear projection screen is removed. In order to install the Direct View LED Screen, steel stud framing, backing and sheetrock will need to be installed. SCC- We would prefer the bidding company have a GC to install all necessary blocking and framing.

Confirm what manufacturer of control system was submitted and accepted for the Trade Center Expansion project? This control should be standard for the AV upgrades in the existing trade center facility.

What type of video wall processor shall be used for the Oglethorpe Auditorium LED Wall ADD Alternate. It is not a standard aspect ratio.

Shall the AV contractor be responsible for scissor lift rentals for the duration of the project? SCC- We would prefer the bidding contractor rent their own lifts. If there is ability to allow the winning bidder to utilize our lifts then we can coordinate once onsite.

Shall the AV contractor be allowed to store materials in locked storage on site? SCC- We will work with the winning bidder to have a safe and secure storage area.

There will be a considerable amount of waste accumulated. Shall the AV Contractor be responsible for renting a dumpster for the duration of the project? SCC- The AV tractor can utilize our onsite roll off dumpsters.

States that use of subcontractors < 20%, disclosed in advanced.

Concern is that with shifting schedules and supply chain issues it's hard to guage final subcontractor involvement. Please clarify.

2.9-A states that the DSP must support minimum 64x64 dante channels, 2.9-C states basis of design DSPs that support 32x32 dante channels. Should the basis of design DSPs be upgraded to card based 64x64+ models?

J&A, JP: Yes

States that training sessions are to be recorded to videotape and delivered to client.

Can the recorded sessions be delivered in a different format, ie digitally?

J&A, JP: Yes

Plans show existing AV plates (AV-EX) with instructions to leave in place. There is no reference to these items on the flow diagrams. How do these interfaces impact the new systems?

J&A, JP: Existing plates can be blank plated or removed, as they are not in use in the new design.

Jasper Boardroom. Plans show (2) input interfaces for this space, but only (1) appears on the flows. Is the second source to be switched in the OFE display?

J&A, JP: Plan north wall INP4 will not be used.

All Boardrooms. Flows show audio out from the display on AV5-112, and the DSP/speakers being fed via dante on AV5-107. What is the preferred method for routing audio from the display to the DSP?

J&A, JP: Analog audio feed to DSP - 2ch Dante interface from the tv is also acceptable.

All Boardrooms. Flows show a USB tx/rx routing through the (AV-INP4) interface.

This conflicts with the detail of this interface. Please clarify.

J&A, JP: Design intent is for wall plate type HDMI and USB transmitters in boardrooms, Jasper can have under table version. Provide decora cut out for tx

Gwinnet, Greene, & Pulaski Boardrooms. Flows show the primary display as OFE. This conflicts with the plans and details for these spaces. Are these (3) displays contractor provided or owner furnished?

J&A, JP: TV provided by contractor.

Audio Concerns: Dante. Looking at just the audio interface plates, I have a rough count of 232x116 Dante channels routed to (6) DSPs. Trying to identify the channels per DSP came up with the following numbers (44x22, 40x20, 56x28, 12x6, 56x28, 48x24). These numbers are approximate at best.

Is there documentation of the intended channel counts and/or routes?

Should (5) of the (6) DSPs be upgraded from the BOD models to card based models to support 64x64 (see spec question above)?

J&A, JP: Suggest using Server I/O

Audio Concerns: DSP outputs. Flows show the amplifiers being fed by (2) channels each from the DSP, yet the amplifiers support (4) dedicated speaker runs that seem like they would need a discrete source. If we increase the DSP output to accommodate the amp channels, that doubles the DSP output count and goes beyond the BOD DSPs called out in the spec. Is there documentation of the intended speaker zone routes?

Should the DSPs be upgraded from the BOD models to card based models to support the number of outputs required (see spec question above)?

J&A, JP: Several speaker zones would not need discrete source (Except meeting rooms, Boardrooms). Audio routing will be via Dante and analog is back up.

Suggest using Servo I/O

Audio Concerns: Speaker channels. Speakers shown on plans (Z2-1.1 & Z11-1.1) are not reflected on flow drawings. Zone loads are 480W & 540W respectively. Which amp / channels are intended to power these speakers?

J&A, JP: Utilize spare amp channels on AV5-107, 106

Audio Concern: Speaker channel. Flows show an amplifier channel to feed zone Z7-1.6.

These speakers are not referenced on the plans. Please clarify the location and quantity of these speakers.

J&A, JP: Utilize spare amp channels on AV5-107, 106

Audio Concern: Amp power rating. Specifications call for (2) types of amplifiers, 70V 600W per channel & 70V 1250W per channel. Based on a preliminary speaker count & listed transformer tap, some of the amps are underpowered to handle the load or the load + 50% headroom. Is the intent of the audio design to upgrade the amp type to accommodate the speaker load or reduce the transformer taps and keep the amp types the same?

J&A, JP: Suggest either upgrading amplifier rating or, where appropriate, re-distribute speaker load to other available amp channels.

Is there documentation on the EPR calculations for each zone?

Fiber Optics Concern: Distance to MDF from each rack room. I do not have access to the telecom drawings referenced. What is the approximate distance from each AV rack room to the MDF?

J&A, JP: Reference telecom drawings from the expansion project.

J&A can provide if required.

27 4000: Page 6, Items 2.10-A & 2.10-C States that control processor shall be rack-mounted and that Crestron CP4N is basis of design. Concern is lead-times of physical processors and spec’d Crestron control expanders. Would a Crestron VC-4-PC-3 virtual processor on a shelf in the rack be an acceptable replacement? If virtual processor is acceptable, are Global Cache control expanders acceptable?

J&A, JP: Acceptable.

27 4000: Page 8, Items 2.17-B-1, 2.17-B-2,& 2.17-B-4 States that system is supposed to have a total of 55 assisted listen transmitters and 1 receiver. Concern is that existing AV bid flow diagram only shows 4 assisted listen transmitters. Please clarify which rooms require assisted listening so DSP output channel count and rack space can both be properly accounted for.

J&A, JP: 3 x Ballrooms, 12 x meeting rooms, 1 x Oglethorpe room

27 4000: Pages 8 & 9, Items 2.17-B & 2.17-c States that spec’d Williams Sound assisted listen WiFi transmitters are Dante, but that Listen Technologies is an acceptable replacement. Concern is at least one of the spec’d Dante models has been discontinued. Would WiFi transmitters from Listen Technologies with analog inputs be acceptable replacements?

J&A, JP: We preferred Williams Sound Wavecast as that is what is in use for the expansion project. 12 meeting rooms are too close for an FM solution.

27 4000: Page 10, Item 2.25-BPage 11, Item 2.28-B, and SITCC Existing AV bid set 05012023:

Page 46 States that basis of design is Vaddio/Extron for the USB TX/RX and Biamp/Poly for the Videobar. One-line diagrams for rooms using that equipment also show HDMI TX/RX and Mersive devices. Concern is overcomplicated setup with unnecessary table clutter that could all be replaced with two devices from a single manufacturer. Would a Yealink A30 videobar with a single WPP30 wireless USB dongle (to handle both wireless content sharing and wireless BYOD) be acceptable replacements?

J&A, JP: Explore Wolf Vision Cynap video bar.

Who shall be responsible for the removal of the rear projection screen in the Oglethorpe Auditorium?

J&A, JP: Coordinate with owner/general contractor. The expectation is that there will need to be a general contractor involved for minor work with patch, paint wall blocking.

Who shall be responsible for repairing the wall when the rear projection screen is removed. In order to install the Direct View LED Screen, steel stud framing, backing and sheetrock will need to be installed.

J&A, JP: Coordinate with owner/general contractor. The expectation is that there will need to be a general contractor involved for minor work with patch, paint wall blocking.

Confirm what manufacturer of control system was submitted and accepted for the Trade Center Expansion project? This control should be standard for the AV upgrades in the existing trade center facility.

J&A, JP: Crestron is confirmed.

What type of video wall processor shall be used for the Oglethorpe Auditorium LED Wall ADD Alternate. It is not a standard aspect ratio.

J&A, JP: Video wall is a 16:10 aspect ratio

Shall the AV contractor be responsible for scissor lift rentals for the duration of the project?

J&A, JP: AV contractor should include rental pricing and coordinate with owner or general contractor at the time of award to see if said equipment can be provided.

Shall the AV contractor be allowed to store materials in locked storage on site?

J&A, JP: Recommended but at the owners’ discretion.

There will be a considerable amount of waste accumulated. Shall the AV Contractor be responsible for renting a dumpster for the duration of the project?

J&A, JP: AV contractor is required to clean up after work. Dumpster rental would be owners discretion.
