Question and Answers

RFP S-131-000-00006280

Q-1. Please confirm that the graphics listed on page 26 of the "Visitor Center Exhibit Design and Pricing" Document is the complete scope of work for the RFP.

A-1 Graphics listed on p26 are the complete scope of work for the writing and design. The line items are broad categories, and proposers are welcome to provide more detail within each, as appropriate. Please keep in mind, the Reserve has or can access most photos or maps for panels, but we recommend including some money for photos as there may be some we do not have on hand.

Q-2 Would we be responsible for the graphics and content development for the Ideum table?

A-2 No, the graphics and content for the Interactive Park Map and Connected Systems are NOT part of this RFP. I apologize if that was unclear, but we had to move those further out in our timeline due to funding.

Q-3 Can you please describe the flipbooks in more detail? How many pages will there be in each? Are we to develop the graphics and content for the two flipbooks? (one appears to be a storybook)?

A-3 Both flipbooks will tell stories from local tribes’ oral traditions. These will be developed and shared in collaboration with the local tribes, both writing and illustration. You do not need to include them in this RFP. The fabricator will work the Reserve and tribes on those pieces.

To follow-up from a question at the meeting about visitation: the Reserve has about 5,000 walk-in visitors annually, and about 5,000 people who visit the Reserve for programming and may or may not walk through the exhibit hall, around 10,000 total. Visitors are a mix of local residents who have come to hike or visit other places in Charleston, and coastal tourists who are here to see the beaches, camp, go clamming and crabbing, or just stopped on their way along the 101 coastal route. The summer months, between memorial day and labor day get the highest visitation from the more diverse audiences from around the country. Outside of that time, tourists are mostly from the Pacific Northwest, California, Idaho or retired folks who are traveling broadly. Visitors are primarily English speakers, but we don’t have statistics specifically for the Reserve. (we had hoped to gather some more detail on visitors prior to this project, but we were closed for 2.5 years during the pandemic). We use information from Travel Oregon, the Bay Area Chamber of Commerce, the Oregon Coast Visitor’s Association.
