About this file

This document is a Questions & Answers (Q&A) addendum for RFP-24-01-PROS, a solicitation by the City of Lafayette, Colorado, for Mowing, Trimming, and Weed Control Services. The Q&A document covers multiple clarifications about the project scope, including mowing frequencies for utility drainage and native areas, which require 4 mowings per year with a potential 5th mowing during heavy rain periods. The document addresses questions about service areas, specifically confirming that only purple-highlighted areas on maps are to be serviced, excluding sections marked with red XXXX.

The Q&A provides additional technical details about weed control, indicating no restrictions on chemical products except for neonicotinoids, with the city's in-house practice involving glyphosate and SureGuard (a pre-emergent herbicide). The city previously used multiple contractors for different areas and has included last year's contract in Part 1 of the RFP for bidders' reference. Potential contractors are advised to review the attached maps, particularly for Baseline Road native mow areas, to accurately price their proposals. The solicitation appears to cover various municipal landscape maintenance needs, including cemeteries, highway corridors, and native areas.

Are their any restrictions on the types of chemical products that can be used for weed control? What products have been used in the past?

Answer: The are currently no restrictions on the types of chemicals that can be used, except for neonicotinoids which are a class of insecticides, not herbicides. In house we use glyphosate with

SureGuard (a pre-emergent) with great success. Using SureGuard or another strong pre-emergent will limit the need to use glyphosate throughout the season.
