About this file

This is a Question and Answer document from the California Department of Technology regarding IFB 15-2048907 for Roof Furnace Replacement. The document addresses three vendor questions related to technical specifications for the replacement of two Daikin RAH 047C furnace units. The state specifies that the Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) for these units shall be Yaskawa Z1000 drives or equivalent, with equivalency to be determined by the state and requiring cut sheets for alternate proposals.

The document clarifies that VFD bypass functionality will not be needed for the two furnace units, and the state is not interested in the optional 5-year parts warranty or 10-year heat exchanger warranty. The existing installation currently uses Yaskawa E7N drives in the McQuay unit, which are no longer manufactured or recommended for use in new units due to warranty concerns.
