About this file
This is a Performance Work Statement for the restoration and relocation of two historic cannons from the West Point US Military Academy Visitor's Center. The contractor is responsible for removing the cannons from the visitor center elevator, transporting them to a facility in Newburgh, and conducting comprehensive restoration work. The work scope includes fabricating two handling fixtures from steel flat bar and tube, blast cleaning both cannons, applying a three-stage coating system (zinc prime coating, Macropoxy 646, and Poly 250 final coat), and delivering the restored cannons to Dobco at Goethals Hall upon notification that West Point is ready for installation. Transportation logistics include pickup using a truck and 16-foot trailer, movement via pallet jack and winch, and return of equipment to Newburgh upon project completion.
A critical requirement is that the contractor must preserve all historic elements of the cannons and maintain their original appearance throughout the restoration process. Additionally, the contractor is obligated to report all manpower utilized on this contract through the Army Contractor Manpower Reporting Application (CMRA) at https://cmra.army.mil/, with additional details referenced in attached documentation. The work is performed for the US Army at West Point, a federal military installation.
