1.0 Description of Services

1.1 Objective(s): This Performance Work Statement (PWS) describes the services required to meet the Air Force’s repair requirements for the Voice Altitude Warning System (VAWS), NSN 6340-01-318-3876GC, P/N AL-9003-11, used on the HH-60G helicopter. These services include functional testing, inspection, repair or overhaul actions required to ensure the VAWS is in serviceable condition. The Contractor shall fault isolate, repair and test unserviceable assets, as well as maintain data and complete data deliverables, all within the timeframes and quality standards negotiated on the contract. The Contractor shall track and resolve items affected by Product Quality Deficiency Reports (PQDR), perform depot level repair, functional testing, inspection, and packaging. A repair is successful if the item is in a serviceable condition and efficiently serves its intended purpose. The period of performance shall consist of a basic one-year period after contract award plus four one-year ordering periods. The contract type is a Firm- Fixed Price Requirements type for all ordering periods. Repairs shall be completed within 60 calendar days after induction. For priority requirements, the Contractor shall respond to the Production Management Specialist (PMS) within one business day of the request with the estimated delivery date of the critical item. The Contractor shall report production using the Commercial Asset Visibility Air Force (CAVAF) system by maintaining current inputs. The Contractor shall provide data on the actions conducted for each unit. The Contractor shall report daily or as actions occur. The Contractor shall have no more than one valid PQDR per contract year.

1.2 Benefit to United States Air Force (USAF): This acquisition will benefit the United States Air Force (USAF) by providing a means of coverage to fulfill current and future requirements for the VAWS.

1.3 Background: The Voice Altitude Warning System (VAWS) provides audible warnings to the aircraft crew regarding the aircraft’s altitude. The unit interfaces with the radar altimeter to enable the pilot to operate the aircraft within an altitude-limited flight corridor without having to constantly monitor the radar altimeter. When the aircraft climbs above the preset high altitude, the VAWS issues a Check Altitude voice warning. When the aircraft descends below the low parameter, the VAWS issues a Low Altitude voice warning. The VAWS system is a single line replaceable unit (LRU), installed in the helicopter’s center console. The system also interfaces with the intercommunications system.
