About this file
This is a Purchase Description document from the U.S. Army TMDE Activity (USATA) for the procurement of a Lab Standard Microphone System to replace damaged equipment critical to the Acoustics Lab's operations. The procurement is structured as a brand name purchase or equivalent, with a requirement for one complete system comprising four distinct components and accessories. The required items include: one 4180-PTO 1/2" Calibration Condenser Microphone (laboratory standard); one ET-2014-W-002 Primary DPLA Microphone Calibration covering 1/3 octave frequencies from 10Hz to 25 kHz for the 4180 model; one 4160-PTO 1" Laboratory Standard Pressure Microphone with 200V polarization; one ET-2014-W-001 Primary DPLA Microphone Calibration covering 1/3 octave frequencies from 2Hz to 10kHz for the 4160 model with results calculated per IEC 61094-2:2009/AMD1:2022; one AO-0087-D-012 coaxial cable (BNC connectors, 1.2m length, rated to +85°C); and two additional units for shipping purposes.
The requirement is driven by the loss of three microphone standards due to damage, creating an urgent need to prevent potential shutdown of the acoustics laboratory, as reciprocity calibration requires three microphones of identical models. All accredited parameters within the acoustics lab depend on these laboratory-grade microphones. Delivery is required to U.S. Army TMDE Activity, Attn: Ricardo Gutierrez, Building 5435, Redstone Arsenal, AL 35898. No specific response date, award date, or pricing information is provided in this purchase description document.

Purchase Description Procurement of Lab Standard Microphone System
The U.S. Army TMDE Activity (USATA) has a requirement to implement a brand name purchase of one (1) Lab Standard Microphone System model or equivalent that will be a suitable replacement for the 4180/4160 Microphones are the main standard for the Acoustics Lab. Three standards have been lost due to damage. Reciprocity calibration requires three microphones of the same model to function appropriately. APSL needs to replace these standards to prevent a potential shutdown of the acoustics laboratory. All accredited parameters within the acoustics lab are tied to these laboratory grade Microphones. The Lab Standard Microphone System shall include the following specifications or equivalent (if not brand name):
1.0 Requirements:
4180—PTO 1/2" Calibration Condenser Microphone, laboratory standard. Qty: 1
ET-2014-W-002- Primary DPLA Microphone Calibration 1/3 octave frequencies 10Hz to 25 kHz for type 4180 Qty: 1
4160—PTO 1" Laboratory Standard Pressure Microphone, 200V Polarization. Qty: 1
ET-2014-W-001-Primary DPLA Microphone Calibration 1/3 octave frequencies 2Hz to 10kHz for type 4160.
Results calculated according to IEC 61094-2:2009/AMD1:2022 Qty:1
AO-0087-D-012- Cable, coax single screen, BNC (M) to BNC (M), 1,2m (4.0ft), max.+85°C (185°F) Qty:1
