About this file
This is a Public Construction Bond form issued by the Board of County Commissioners of Walton County, Florida, for the SR 83 (US 331) Landscaping Improvements project. The bond secures contractor performance for a landscaping project involving sod replacement and irrigation installation along the scenic corridor median from SR 30 (US 98) to north of Chat Holley Road, covering approximately 256,500 square feet. The project is structured in two phases with a contract duration of 60 days for substantial completion and an additional 30 days for punch list completion. A mandatory pre-bid conference was scheduled for October 27, 2025, at 10:00 am, with bid responses due on November 17, 2025, at 3:00 pm. The project consists of six line items: mobilization, maintenance of traffic, removal of existing sod and site preparation, Zoysia sod installation, irrigation system components and installation, and a 10% owner's contingency, with an estimated total project cost of approximately $670,000.
The bond requires the principal contractor to perform all work according to contract specifications, make prompt payments to all labor and material suppliers, guarantee all work and materials for the time specified in the contract, and compensate Walton County for any losses, damages, or expenses resulting from contract default. The surety corporation named on the bond is jointly and severally liable with the principal for performance and payment obligations. Payment will be structured in two progress payments upon substantial completion of each phase. The project includes liquidated damages of $1,685 per calendar day for delays. Contractors must provide performance and payment bonds, maintain a full-time on-site superintendent, obtain all necessary licenses and permits, carry appropriate insurance, and comply with federal, state, and local regulations. The project is a joint collaboration between Walton County and the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), emphasizing ecological sustainability and Florida-friendly landscaping principles.
