About this file
This is a project limits map prepared by the Escambia County Waste Services Department for the Perdido Landfill Southwest Pond and Pump House Pond construction and survey project. The map, based on imagery from July 12, 2023, delineates the geographic scope of proposed improvements to the stormwater management system. The primary work involves rehabilitation of an overgrown pond system that requires removal of trees and dense shrub and grass vegetation encroaching on the water flow and drainage infrastructure. Additional work includes sediment removal, repair of the spillway (weir) on the west side of the pond where erosion and washout have occurred, re-establishment of a drop inlet at the southwest corner that has been obscured by overgrowth and sediment accumulation, and cleaning of the pipe from the drop inlet to the outfall to restore proper flow. A tree in the southeast area of the pond has been identified for preservation. The map indicates three pond features: the Southwest Pond, Pump House Pond, Beaver Dam Pond, and a Weir Pond, with clearly marked project limits and the location of the southwest drop inlet.
The map serves as an informational document only and is not intended for use in developing construction plans or engineering services. The Escambia County Waste Services Department has explicitly stated that the map is not guaranteed to be accurate and should not be relied upon for purposes other than internal departmental functions. No survey certification is provided, and the document is not suitable for conveyance or legal boundary determination purposes.

Current pond is extremely overgrown and in need of rehabilitation. There is an abundance of trees along the littoral vegetation boundary that need to be removed. Shrub and grass vegetation has also encroached into the pond system impacting water flow and drainage.
Sediment is expected to be built up and will require removal.
In addition to restoration of pond area, the spillway (weir) on the west side of the pond will need to be repaired. A portion of lower west section has been washed out and continues to erode. A drop inlet at the south west corner will also need to be re-established due to overgrowth & sediment.
Pipe from the drop inlet to the outfall will need to be cleaned out to ensure flow.
Tree toward the south east area of the pond will be preserved.
