About this file

This document is a pre-processing and delivery instructions file for a state or local book procurement contract (Bid 26-426DOC-GRANT-B-49661). The file provides specific guidelines for book preparation and delivery, focusing on labeling requirements for fiction and non-fiction books. Pre-processing instructions mandate that books must be labeled with spine labels (fiction using author name, non-fiction using Dewey number and Cutter code) placed on the lower spine to avoid obstructing existing title information. Book pockets with corresponding labels should be centered on the first page without writing, and new books must be wrapped to protect covers, with paperbacks requiring non-removable covers.

Delivery instructions specify that each book item description in the Invitation for Bid (IFB) contract indicates the specific facility where individual books should be delivered. The delivery addresses are detailed in pages 4-7 of the IFB contract. While specific quantities, pricing, and funding sources are not explicitly outlined in this document, the instructions suggest a structured procurement process with precise book preparation and distribution requirements for what appears to be a library or educational book acquisition project.

Text version

Pre-Processing & Delivery Instructions Pre-Processing Pre-processing as defined in the IFB contract on page 2 states that items “should be labeled and have book pockets in place prior to shipping.”

The spine labels: for fiction it should be FIC Author Last Name, Author First Name; and for non-fiction it should be the dewey # and cutter. Cutter is the first letters of the author’s last name.

The label should be on the lower part of the spine to not obstruct the title and author listed on the spine.

Book pockets would have the same labels as the spine but larger.

The pocket would be on the first page without writing. It would be in the center of the page and the label would be centered on the pocket.

Book wrapping on the new and unused books to protect the book covers (paperbacks can be wrapped with a non-removable cover).

Delivery Instructions Each item description on bid 26-426DOC-GRANT-B-49661 states which facility should receive which book.

Delivery address that ties to item’s description is listed in the Invitation for Bid “IFB Contract” on starting on page 4 to page 7.
