About this file
This document is a Purchase Request for IT/Telecom Goods and Services for the Illinois Department of Human Services (DHS) Bureau of Disability Determination Services (BDDS). The request is for 12 months of hardware maintenance and next-day emergency response for an APC Symmetra PX 60KVA uninterruptible power source (UPS) that supports the BDDS server room. The UPS has a serial number of PD0804160064 and is located at 120 West Jefferson St., Rm 3018 in Springfield, IL. This is an ongoing procurement, with previous maintenance contracts procured annually via various Procurement Business Case (PBC) numbers since FY2010.
The estimated value of the initial 12-month term is $5,750. The procurement is fully funded by the U.S. Social Security Administration (SSA), which mandates the network infrastructure supported by this UPS. Not renewing the maintenance contract would put the BDDS server room at risk of power outages and service disruptions. This is considered a critical IT hardware maintenance procurement for ongoing business operations, despite DHS BDDS not being part of the state's IT consolidation.

The network is attached to an APC brand uninterruptible power source (UPS) to protect the power supply to the raised-floor, secured & monitored 24/7 computer server room. The UPS is currently rated at 60KVA but has the capacity to be raised to 75KVA capacity if necessary.
The purpose of this procurement is to purchase 12 months hardware maintenance to provide regular and, if needed, emergency maintenance (next day response) on this vital piece of equipment which provides conditioned, and backup power to the BDDS computer server room.
