About this file

This is a Product Specification document for RF bandpass filters required for the PIP-II Low-Level RF (LLRF) RF Station Upconverters at Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory.

The specification defines procurement requirements for two line items: Item A consists of 76 units of 325 MHz narrow-band bandpass filters, and Item B consists of 88 units of 650 MHz narrow-band bandpass filters. Both filters must be production-quality units suitable for integration into 50-ohm RF systems with acceptance test data provided for each delivered lot. The 325 MHz filter must deliver a 10 MHz 3 dB bandwidth (9.5-10.5 MHz acceptable range) with insertion loss ≤1.8 dB, passband ripple ≤1.0 dB, and VSWR ≤1.5:1. The 650 MHz filter must provide 13.5 MHz nominal equiripple usable bandwidth with insertion loss ≤1.5 dB and matching VSWR specifications. Both filters require minimum 5 W CW average power handling, tuned and locked center frequency within ±0.1%, and out-of-band rejection equal to or better than 3-section and 5-section high-Q cavity designs respectively. Mechanical requirements include SMA female connectors, rugged metal RF-shielded housings, compact cavity-filter compatible designs with outline drawings, and permanent marking with part number, serial/lot number, frequency, and manufacturer identification. Environmental specifications include operating temperature -20°C to +50°C, storage temperature -40°C to +85°C, and shock/vibration qualification preferred at 20 G half-sine and 10 G across 10 Hz to 2000 Hz. Suppliers must provide completed compliance matrices, S-parameter plots, mechanical drawings, manufacturing lead times, unit and lot pricing, warranty terms, and acceptance test plans with Touchstone .s2p data format preferred. AS9100 or ISO 9001 quality systems and RoHS/REACH compliance with certificate of conformance are preferred.

1. Purpose

This specification defines two high-Q RF bandpass filters for competitive procurement.

2. Scope

The supplier shall furnish high-Q bandpass filters for the two line items below. The filters shall be production-quality units suitable for integration into 50-ohm RF systems and shall include acceptance test data for each delivered lot, with serialized data preferred when available.

• Item A: 325 MHz narrow-band bandpass filter, quantity 76 each.

• Item B: 650 MHz narrow-band bandpass filter, quantity 88 each.

Required bid basis: quote each item separately, include lead time ARO, technical compliance matrix, exceptions, and supporting data sheets or predicted/measured plots.

3. Approved Reference or Equal

A bid shall be considered technically acceptable only if it meets all mandatory requirements.

Better performance includes lower insertion loss, lower VSWR, higher rejection/selectivity, better ripple in pass band and stop band, smaller or more robust mechanical packaging, better environmental qualification, faster delivery, or lower evaluated total cost without reducing technical compliance.

4. RF Performance Requirements

Requirement Item A: 325 MHz filter Item B: 650 MHz filter

Filter type High-Q RF bandpass filter or equivalent technology acceptable

High-Q RF bandpass filter or equivalent technology acceptable

Center frequency 325 MHz nominal; tuned center shall be within ±0.1% unless otherwise approved
