About this file

This document is an Amendment #2 to a Request for Quotation (RFQ) issued by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) for a trailer-mounted 4-inch fish pump, identified by the solicitation number PF250161JF. The amendment addresses various vendor inquiries regarding specifications for the pump system, including details about the trailer construction, motor type, column piping, and suction tube assembly. The document confirms that the trailer should be an all powder-coated steel frame, potentially with steel or aluminum decking, and includes a preference for a removable tongue to facilitate ease of movement and staff safety.

The amendment provides clarification on multiple technical aspects of the fish pump system, such as non-threaded flanged column piping connected with camlocks, and confirms that both a 4-inch Suction Tube Assembly and a 4-inch Custom Suction chute with perforated slide gate are required. The solicitation does not impose strict dimensional requirements for the trailer beyond ensuring it can be legally towed at highway speeds. An example image of a similar fish pump system is included to provide vendors with a visual reference for the expected equipment configuration. Vendors are encouraged to contact Jeremy Finnegan or the Contracts & Purchasing team for any additional questions or clarifications regarding the RFQ.

PF250161JF

Title: WDFW: TRAILER MOUNTED 4-INCH FISH PUMP

Amendment No: 2

Purpose: This amendment provides update on the original RFQ.

All other terms, conditions, and specifications remain unchanged.

Attachments: See following pages below

Vendor inquiries have been addressed below, including an photo example of an acceptable starting point.

For any questions, please contact Jeremy Finnegan at Jeremy.Finnegan@dfw.wa.gov or the Contracts & Purchasing team at Contractspurchasing@dfw.wa.gov.

Can you please specify whether the required motor is a Vertical Hollow Shaft or Vertical Solid Shaft?

We did not specify this requirement. That is up to the manufacturer

Is column piping necessary for this assembly? If so, could you specify whether you need threaded or flanged column piping?

Non threaded flanged. Connected with camlocks on the airtight intake and V clamps or ringlock fittings .

It’s not clear to me if the trailer is ALL STEEL, powder-coated or if it anticipates a powder-coated steel FRAME trailer, with the decking being some kind of treated wood. Can you please clarify?

All powder coated steel frame steel frame. Decking, if needed, can be powder coated steel or aluminum.

There are no dimensions listed for the trailer. Are there any requirements here or is it up to the bidder to determine size, based on the equipment being mounted to the trailer?

No Requirements other than can be legally towed at highway speeds

It appears to me that simply a flatbed utility-type trailer is what is anticipated—no sides or enclosures of any kind—is that correct?

That is correct, unless you determine it to be of benefit

In the stated specifications, it indicates only a “durable powder coated steel trailer.” However, in the general specification checklist, it also specifies a “removable tongue” on the trailer. A removable tongue is not a common feature on standard utility-type trailers. Including this feature drives up cost either in finding a specialized off-the-shelf model or in modifying it in our facility. Are you able to clarify any details on this requirement?

We would like a removeable tongue for ease of fitting into tight spaces and safety of staff working around it

The general specifications are calling out a 4” Suction Tube Assembly with perforated slide gate. The amendment is referring to the 4” Custom Suction chute with perforated slide gate. We understand they want the custom built one, however our question is do they still want the 4” suction tube assembly with perforated slide gate?

Please check and see if they want both items, as we want to make sure that they will not be missing any items.

Yes we do.
