1.1 BACKGROUND

The Petrofluids and Material Performance Branch (Code 331) of the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Philadelphia Division (NSWCPD), provides services to test and analyze petrofluids samples on a periodic basis across the fleet. Current programs under Code 331’s responsibilities include lubrication oil, fuel oil, hydraulic oil, and grease samples under multiple class ships. NSWCPD is expecting growth in the PQM responsibilities by increasing the number of petrofluids samples requiring testing and analysis to include all machinery and equipment samples across the fleet.
