About this file

This is a Payment Bond document required by the City of Santa Monica for a contract awarded through competitive procurement. The bond secures 100% of the contract amount and provides financial protection for all contractors, subcontractors, laborers, materialmen, and other persons employed in the performance of the contract. The bond is issued pursuant to California Civil Code Section 9550 and ensures payment for materials, equipment, labor, and amounts due under the Unemployment Insurance Act. The principal and surety executing the bond are jointly and severally liable, and the surety waives notice of any changes, extensions of time, alterations, or modifications to the contract or work performed. The bond remains in full force and effect unless all conditions are fully performed, at which point the obligation becomes void.

The Payment Bond applies to the Santa Monica Fire Department's procurement of lightweight highrise structure firefighting hoses, specifically 2-inch and 2.5-inch hoses meeting NFPA 1960 and 1961 standards. The bond requires notarial acknowledgement of the surety and supporting power of attorney documentation. As a condition of contract award, the successful vendor must execute this bond prior to commencing work. The bond amount equals 100% of the proposal amount and protects claimants under California Civil Code Section 9100, giving them direct rights of action against the bond in case of non-payment for labor, materials, or services provided in connection with the contract performance.
