General Specifications for Fire Alarm Installation

Installation of a New BOSCH 9412 Fire Panel, Life Safety components, and Burglar alarm system in the NPS’s Rodeo Valley Horse Stables.

1.1 PROJECT INTRODUCTION
Project Name: Installation of a New: BOSCH 9412 Fire Panel, Life Safety components, and Burglar alarm system.

1.2 Short Project Description
The project consists of the design and installation of a New BOSCH 9412 Fire Panel, Life Safety components (Smoke detection, Heat detection, Horn strobes, Manual pull station, and Burglar alarm system in the Presidio Riding Club / NPS Horse Stables.
All components will be in new condition, all wiring will be in Plenum Rated PCVC conduit and all surface screws will be stainless steel to prevent corrosion of the system. Submit proposed design, accessories and fixture list to NPS Fire Marshall for approval prior to installation.

2.1 PROJECT REQUIREMENTS
2.2 Project Summary/Requirements
The work of this project consists of installing/ upgrading a Class A Power Addressable, Power Limited, Combination Manual/ Automatic Fire Detection System and Burglar alarm.
A set of as-builts will be provided by the installer prior to project completion to note changes. The installation of a complete Fire and Burglary system is required. This installation shall be accordance to the most current NFPA 101, NFPA 72, NEC, IBC, IFC codes, and approved by the NPS Fire Marshal.
2.3 Minimize Construction Impacts
Minimize dust and fumes during the construction project. Protect the surrounding areas in the project area from removal of old system as required.
2.4 Staging Areas
Staging is limited to in or near the working area. All staging areas shall be returned to pre- Construction conditions once project is complete.
2.5 Construction Coordination
The Contracting Officer (CO) will provide all necessary written notification and/or direction to the contractor.
2.6 Quality Control
The quality of all work shall be the responsibility of the Contractor.
2.7 Working Hour Restrictions
All work and deliveries shall be limited to the weekday hours of 7:00 am to 5:00 pm unless otherwise approved by the Contracting Officer. No work shall occur on National Park Service holidays or weekends without prior approval.
2.8 Hazard Control
Take all necessary precautions to prevent fire during construction. Do not store flammable or combustible liquids in existing structures. Provide adequate ventilation during use of volatile or noxious substances.
2.9 Smoking
Smoking anywhere on the project is prohibited.
2.10 Site Visit
A site visit is required for this project and will be scheduled by the Contracting Officer.
3.1 PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS
3.2 Protection
Protect any areas adjacent to the project site from construction debris. Keep dust and dirt to a minimum. Use suitable methods to limit dust and dirt from rising and scattering in air to lowest practical level. Comply with governing regulations pertaining to environmental protection. Ensure safety of persons in the work area. Provide temporary barricades as required to protect park personnel and general public from injury due to construction work. Provide adequate fire protection. Keep area clear of hazardous substances and debris. Project site will be cleaned and secured on a daily basis to ensure the safety of the general public and park personnel. All project debris will be cleaned up/removed at the end of the work day.
Project areas will be flagged/cordoned off to ensure the safety of the general public and park personnel.
3.3 Vendor Support
Vendor will provide a set of as-built drawing showing the work completed.
4.1 PROJECT DESCRIPTION
4.2 Existing Building and Site Description
Two single story horse facilities with attached hay and feed storage.
4.3 Existing Project Condition
The building currently does have a fire detection/ burglar alarm system installed. The removal of conduit or other components are planned in this work. The alarm system will be extended to adjacent structure and tied together in a single 9412 Series Bosch panel.
4.4 Detailed Project Description
Contractor will install new Fire, Life Safety, and Burglar System with the required smoke or heat detector components in all areas as required per NFPA 72 and as approved by the NPS Fire Marshal. The components are a Fire Alarm/ Burglar Control Panel, Smoke Detectors, Manual Pull Stations, Ceiling Strobe Lights, Horn with Strobe Lights, Motion Sensors in administration office, Feed storage and Tacking rooms.
A site walk through should be conducted by all bidders to ensure the submitted bid meets the needs of the government and to aid in project layout and cost proposal.
Upon project completion, provide a standard one year F.A.R. warranty on all work and materials installed.
