Text version

Below are the questions we have after the site visit on August 27 referencing contract P15PS02143.

(1) Is there any repairs to the seawall, sheet piles or tongue and groove sheathing on the water side ?

No repairs to sheathing on seawall. The holes per the report at the base of the wall discussed in the report will need to be sealed either landside or waterside to stem the subsidence on the landside of the wall. Any major sheathing or sheetpile work would occur in future project(s).

(2) Will there be any repairs to the steel sheathing piles as indicated in the report ?

Per question 1- the repairs to steel sheet piles would occur under a separate future project. The scope is to fill the voids in the base of the wall/ sheetpile to stem the continually occurring subsidence above.

(3) Will there be any adjustment to the railing for level and plumb to be preformed or just where broken and missing sections pre scope of work?

Repairs will only include broken and missing segments to meet fall height and resistance needs and match existing. Existing non damaged sections will not require leveling/ plumbing unless safety and integrity are compromised in a given location.

(4) If check valves are installed behind seawall (land side) instead of water side it would be easier to service and maintenance in the future. Would this be acceptable?

This concept is acceptable. The solution would need to be easily accessible for maintenance ie manhole or other. The final installed solution would need to keep overall site impact to a minimum knowing that this is public fishing access. Final design solution would require detail for review prior to installation.
