CLARIFICATION to additional responses to questions that have arisen regarding solicitation
NRC-R1-91-14-Q-0005:
14) Are additional strips of UL Level III ballistic panels required to be overlaid along seams?
What are the gap tolerances along seams? Seams of adjacent ballistic panels are expected to be in contact with one another with no more than a "knife edge" gap between the two.
a) IF the seams of adjacent ballistic panels are in contact with one another (with no more than a "knife edge" gap between the two), THEN additional strips of UL Level III ballistic panels ARE NOT required to be overlaid along the seams.
b) IF the seams of adjacent ballistic panels are NOT in contact with one another by more than a "knife edge" gap between the two, THEN additional strips of UL Level III ballistic panels ARE required to be overlaid along the seams.
15) Is UL Level III ballistic protection also required behind wall outlets and switches? Yes.
