AMENDMENT NO. 4
REQUEST FOR QUOTATION (RFQ) NO. NRC-30-08-539 ENTITLED, “U.S. NRC Region III Private Branch Exchange (PBX) Upgrade”
Question and Answers for Solicitation NRC-30-08-539
AMENDMENT NO. 4
- The Solicitation is revised to reflect the changes shown below.
1) Will all unified messaging users require fax messaging capability?
NRC Response: NO
2) Will the Government provide one PRI span each from the serving carriers (Broadwing and MCI) for Phase I testing prior to Phase II cutover?
NRC Response: Yes, as long it is during the weekend set aside for the cutover.
3) What is the VoIP sets per floor breakdown (ie: 2nd, 3rd & 4th)?
NRC Response: To be determined. We just need the specific amount stated in the SOW.
4) What is the platform and software version of the Microcall call accounting system?
NRC Response: Microcall for Windows Version 2.91
5) The scope of work references full hardware redundancy when describing the IP PBX requirement. Does the NRC require this redundancy on the Voice Mail/Unified Messaging Platform as well?
NRC Response: NO
6) What manufacturer, model, and IP communication method are the VTC endpoints currently in use? (i.e. Tandberg 880 sip or Polycom EX h.323, etc)
NRC Response: N/A our current VTC systems are on a different network altogether.
7) Will the IP PBX be required to register VTC endpoints as extensions?
NRC Response: YES
8) Will the IP PBX be required to perform Video Conference trans-coding from IP to ISDN for VTC units?
NRC Response: NO
9) Section 4.1, “Full harware redundancy”. Is hardware redundancy required for both the PBX and Voicemail systems?
NRC Response: NO, just the PBX.
10) Section 4.1, “Voice and call set up must be encrypted using FIPS 140-2 validated encryption”. Can you explain in further detail?
NRC Response: http://csrc.nist.gov/publications/fips/fips140-2/fips1402.pdf
11) The voice network and data network will be two separate networks and the voice network will need to access the data network for unified messaging (access to Exchange/Outlook). Is it acceptable to use a router to “bridge” the two networks for unified messaging capabilities only? If so would this be provided by NRC or by the vendor?
NRC Response: Yes, that is acceptable but this will be provided and completed by the NRC at a later date.
12) Fiber cable between floors: Are there data switches on each floor?
NRC Response: You will provide fiber between floors and PoE switches will be needed on each floor.
13) The RFP calls for the vender to supply the fiber runs. Can you tell me what the distance of the runs are?
NRC Response: Estimated from 3rd LAN room to 4th floor closet is 40 feet and to the 2nd floor LAN closet is 30 feet.
14) Listed in the RFP it states that you want full redundancy. Does this include the Messaging system? (adding a 2nd MAS server?)
NRC Response: NO
15) Maintenance- Do I assume 24x7 maintenance?
NRC Response: YES
16) Is the a MPLS network? Meaning that it ties to 1 remaining site that has the PRI?
NRC Response: The fail over site will eventually have a PRI for fail over capability but does not at the present time.
17) Would you like UPS backup for the remote sites?
NRC Response: No UPS backup for the remote sites.
18) Do you have the estimated length between the 3rd floor LAN room and the 3rd floor wiring closets?
NRC Response: Estimated from 3rd LAN room to 4th floor closet is 40 feet and to the 2nd floor LAN closet is 30 feet.
19) How many wiring closets are there per floor?
NRC Response: 1 wiring closet on each floor, 3 floors total.
20) Are the closets stacked vertically and is there a vacant conduit or access between floors to run the fiber cable?
NRC Response: They are stacked relatively close with conduit that can be used for the fiber runs.
Note: This Amendment No. 4 does not change the proposal due date set forth in Block 9 of the SF1449 Solicitation Page. Block 8 states that all proposals are due on August 22, 2008 at COB EST.
