NAWCAD Long Range Acquisition Forecast (LRAF) Industry Update Summary
This document is the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) Long Range Acquisition Forecast for the period February 5, 2026 through May 15, 2026. It provides an informational planning overview of anticipated contract opportunities across multiple Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) program offices and NAWCAD organizational units. The forecast includes approximately 60 planned acquisitions with contract values ranging from under $10 million to over $1 billion, covering a five-year period of performance. Notional values are categorized into bands ($10M–$50M, $50M–$100M, $100M–$200M, $200M–$500M, and $500M–$1B). Projected acquisition strategies include SeaPort, SA IDIQ, C-Type contracts, and other government-wide acquisition vehicles. Most opportunities are anticipated to have final RFP releases between FY26 and FY28, with contract awards spanning FY26 through FY28 quarters. Small Business Set Asides comprise a significant portion of the forecast, with some unrestricted competitions also planned.
The forecast encompasses diverse requirements including program management and contractor support services (CSS) across multiple Program Management Activities (PMAs) such as PMA-251, PMA-242, PMA-234, PMA-209, PMA-265, and PMA-275. Technical and engineering support services are required for specialized divisions including Airborne Systems Integration, Ship and Air Integrated Warfare, Integrated Command, Control and Intel Systems, Special Communications Mission Solutions, and Combat Integration & Identification Systems. Additional categories include software application solutions, life cycle support for C5ISR systems, aircraft instrumentation engineering, modeling and simulation, cyber warfare services, business intelligence, and enterprise business service support. Several opportunities represent follow-on competitive awards or re-competes of existing contracts. The document notes that specific acquisition strategies and competition types are subject to change based on market research and that all formal announcements will be posted in the System for Award Management (SAM).
