About this file
This is an informational document from the U.S. Army describing campus-style dining venues available to soldiers living in barracks on meal cards. The Army provides barracks soldiers with three meals daily through the Centralized Soldier Dining Facility (CSDY), where meal card values are converted into daily allowances: $9.57 for breakfast, $15.88 for lunch, and $13.57 for dinner, totaling $39 in daily value. Soldiers may spend these allocated "dollars" at the restaurant throughout the day in any combination, with unused breakfast funds rolling into lunch and dinner values. Soldiers with Military Entrance Code (MEC) 09 can view their remaining balance on each receipt.
Soldiers living in barracks must verify their Meal Entitlement Code is set to 09 by their unit S-1 for Common Access Card (CAC) scan access before dining. If a soldier scans a meal at the restaurant, that same meal cannot be ordered at another military dining location such as a food truck or kiosk. However, if a scanned meal exceeds its allocated value, soldiers may use their remaining daily values to cover the difference and can order additional items from the same venue using that balance. The $39 daily value does not come from soldier pay; soldiers receive a Basic Allowance for Subsistence (BAS) with $13.65 per day deducted for their provided meals. All soldiers on BAS, families, civilians, and contractors are welcome to dine at these restaurants on a la carte basis, paying for items ordered.
