Q&A for Solicitation N6893620Q0211
1) Question: Will the government consider an alternate material option, and reconsider the UFC3-550-01 and associated UFGS requirements for this application?
Answer: Yes. These areas will not encounter any vehicle traffic that would put any vehicle load on the lid. This UFCGS requirement can be altered, but alternate material will have to be submitted and approved.
2) Question: Based on Arial imagery there seems to be a vehicle access point directly off the bottom of the hill, that leads up to Vault 2-3 locations, will the contractor not be allowed to utilize this?
Answer: There is now vehicle access point for any vault location. Arial imagery doesn't show the actual topography and lack of vehicle access.
3) Question: Depending on what material options are available for the vault lid assembly, each component will have to be hand carried to each vault location, will the government consider allowing the use of a UTV or like-type 4x4 vehicle.
Answer: This is private property and the owner will not allow these type of vehicles.
4) Question: Concrete repair - based on the photos provided the level of concrete repair varies per vault location. Vault 6 picture shows some substantial failure. What is the level of concrete patching, repair required? Will patching be required within the vault as well?
Answer: Vault 6 is the worst case scenario. All vaults require some patching & inside/outside repairs in order to support the lids we require.
5) Question: Does the vault enclosures have to be sealed water tight?
Answer: Yes
6) Question: Will a hot work permit be required for any grinding, or cutting of steel?
Answer: Yes.
7) Question: Is there any environmental requirement's/considerations?
Answer: Yes.
8) Question: Can a combination of epoxy and concrete be used for repairs?
Answer: Yes
9) Question: Confirm that old embedded part of steel frame can be left in place, and would govt. like it coated/painted, or some other kind of protection?
Answer: Old embedded steel can be left in place and epoxy coated.
10) Question: Please clarify requirement of "The lids shall be coated w/ zinc rich epoxy powder." Typically, that type of a finish would be on steel and not on aluminum.
Answer: A 2-part epoxy barrier coat and primer will be used
11) Question: Can access be from the top down, or does it have to be from bottom up?
Answer: top down access is ok.
