Minimum Specifications

PR 1300572944

GNSS Controlled Antenna Pedestal

Specifications:

The pedestal system shall comply with the following specifications:

Tripod:

· The tripod shall have a setup height of at least 70 inches on level ground with legs fully opened and fully extended.

· In a collapsed condition for shipping, the maximum length of the tripod shall be no more than 42 inches (Without pan/tilt unit attached).

· The tripod, with legs fully opened and extended, shall have a leg spread diameter of at least 70 inches.

· The weight of the assembled tripod shall not exceed 25 pounds (Not including pan/tilt unit).

· The load capacity of the fully opened and extended tripod shall be at least 130 pounds.

· The tripod legs shall have feet suitable for spiking into the ground or for attaching weights to improve stability under wind loading.

· The tripod shall be constructed of material suitable for working in a marine environment.

Pan and Tilt Motor and Housing:

· The weight of the pan and tilt motors shall not exceed 25 Pounds.

· The pan and tilt motors, which shall be capable of being removed from the tripod, shall operate safely with loads up to 100 pounds (weight of antennas).

· The pan and tilt motors housing shall be suitable for operating in harsh marine environments. The motors and housing shall withstand heavy water spray conditions.

System Operational requirements:

· The system shall provide both automatic/autonomous and manual tracking modes.

At power up, the system shall default to MANUAL mode.

· In autonomous mode, the system shall track the UUT using positions provided by the Multi-Mover system or manually entered by the operator (Pedestal ground position).

· In manual mode, the GUI shall provide pan and tilt controls to allow an operator to manually adjust pan and tilt angles to track the UUT position.

· The scan ranges in azimuth and Elevation shall be:

Azimuth/Pan: 0 to 360 Degrees
Elevation/Tilt: -10 to 60 degrees or greater

· The scan rates shall be continuously variable and as a minimum shall cover 0.5 to 10 Degrees/Sec.

· The scan resolution shall be +/- 1.0 Degree or less

· The Pan and Tilt system shall be protected such that interruption during movement shall not cause damage to the mechanical drive system

· The system shall accommodate parabolic dish antennas up to 1.2 meters in diameter.

· The Pan and Tilt system shall be protected such that interruption during movement shall not cause damage to the motors or the motor control electronics

· The Pan and tilt control shall be designed to accept the co-ordinates of its own GNSS Multi-Mover receiver and the platform under test Multi-Mover receiver via RS-232 interfaces. The structure of the TDMA data strings is provided in Annex A.

· The GUI shall allow the selection of the Multi-Mover TDMA time slot for both pedestal and UUT. Time slots range from 1 to 8.

· The controller software shall operate under WIN 7 operating system

· The software shall contain the following features as a minimum:

The controller shall receive the RS232 data strings from the Multi-Mover unit, extract the positions of both pedestal and UUT (Identified by unique time slot numbers) and apply these positions to control the pedestal.

The system shall allow the ground position of the pedestal to be entered from the Multi-Mover RS 232 interface automatically.

The system shall allow the ground position of the pedestal to be entered manually from the GUI

The manually entered pedestal ground position accuracy shall allow for Degrees and decimal minutes to five decimal places or equivalent accuracy Degrees and decimal degrees. Altitude is always in meters.

In addition to the automatic calculation of tilt angle when in autonomous mode, the controller shall provide an option to manually enter a fixed tilt angle via the GUI. The manually entered tilt angle shall be selectable from -10 to +10 degrees (or more) with a resolution of 0.5 degrees or better.

The default value for the manual tilt angle shall be zero degrees.

When in autonomous tacking mode, it shall be possible via the GUI to switch between manual entry and autonomous control of tilt.

The software shall provide via the GUI, a manual axis (pan and tilt) alignment capability to allow for accurate axis alignment to true north and zero elevation during system setup. The offset angle shall be selectable in the range of +/- 30 degrees or more with increments of 0.5 degree or less.

A method for the manual entry of a trim angle shall also be available to the user through the GUI. The trim angle shall be applied to the calculated pan and tilt angles when the pedestal is in autonomous tracking mode. The GUI shall allow a trim angle entry over the range +/- 30 degrees or more with increments of 0.5 degrees or less. This feature allows the pedestal to track slightly ahead or behind the platform under test instead of directly at the platform.

The control software shall provide a graphical User interface which contains as a minimum the following:

Controls:

Selection of autonomous or manual tracking mode Selection of automatic or manual entry of tilt angle when in autonomous mode.

Selection of offset angle Selection of trim angle Selection of RS232 Interface parameters Selection of Multi-Mover time slots for Pedestal and UUT Selection of azimuth/pan angle in increments of 0.5 degrees or less Selection of pan/tilt angle in increments of 0.5 degrees or less

Displays:

Real time display of pedestal pan and tilt angles Display of Offset angle Display of trim angle Display source of ground truth data for both Pedestal and UUT (Manual or GPS).

Deliverables:

One complete GNSS controlled automatic Tracking Antenna pedestal consisting of:

· Tripod Base

· Pan and Tilt Motors/Controllers mechanically integrated into the tripod base. Pan and Tilt unit to be fitted with quick connect/disconnect mounting to accept dish antenna.

· Sketch or drawing providing detail to allow construction of a mating bracket to connect to the quick connect/disconnect pan/tilt unit mounting for the ESM target dish antenna.

· Control Software/GUI running in WIN 7 Enterprise.

· Operation, maintenance and troubleshooting documentation.

· Storage/transport cases for pedestal system.

ANNEX A

Multi-Mover FORACS GNSS Tracking System

The FORACS GNSS tracking system is a network of multiple GNSS systems connected over an RF modem network utilizing a TDMA structure. The system is designed with a total of 8 time slots to transmit information. Each GNSS unit is assigned a specific time slot. The ASCII string is transmitted once per second from each unit. The RS232 interface will continuously output the positions of all units on the network with each unit identified by a unique slot number.

The data format is as follows:

^000 3 13:25:44 26:42.84439N 080:03.65956W 1 4 6 20.47 .1234 D7 where:

- "^" defines the start of the string from EMM.

-"000" is heading data sent to the EMM if transmitting position and heading
information. Normally, not used therefore "000".

- "3” is the slot number that corresponds of the EMM

- "13:25:44" is the GMT time in HH:MM:SS format

- "26:42.84439N” is 26 degrees, 42.84439 minutes NORTH latitude

- "080:03.65956W" is 80 degrees, 03.65956 minutes WEST longitude

-"1" is the fix quality indicator where 1 = GPS fix, 2 = DGPS fix.
Current systems only use "1" or "2"

- "4” is the number of satellites used in the solution

- "6" is the HDOP value

- "20.47” is the ellipsoid height, in meters

-".1234” is the percentage of disk usage in the disk on chip. This number
grows as more data are stored.

- D7 is a checksum
