VENDOR QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
Question: The solicitation states in Section 5.1 that two units are randomly selected from each lot of 50 production units. In the case of 55 units are there three cables to be selected randomly? If so, we are seeking confirmation that those two/three cables count to the total number for deliverable production.
Answer: For quantities of two to 50, two random samples will be selected for test and evaluation. There is no reduction in sample quantity for a requirement less than 50. For quantities of 55, four total random samples will be selected for test and evaluation, two for the first quantity of 50 and two for the additional quantity of five. All samples will be counted toward the total production quantity.
Question: In the case of 4 cables for production, will one cable, randomly selected, be required for testing?
Answer: For quantities between 2 to 50, 2 random samples will be selected for test and evaluation. For a production quantity of four, two cables will be selected for test and evaluation.
Question: Does the title page of the technical proposal count toward the 10 page limit?
Answer: No.
Question: PL ITEM 7: Is there a preferred size for 5727596-1 MARKER, IDENT,ELEC WIRE?
Answer: Per note 7 on Dwg. 5727696, manufacturing can select the appropriate size when -1 is on the parts list, as long as the size can properly fit the .10 inch high lettering.
Question: PL ITEM 7: Are parts allowed to be procured through Digi Key.
Answer: Yes
Question: PL ITEM 7: Confirmation of alternative part number from "5727596-1" to Digi Key's "S200X400VA1Y" Answer: Sheet 6 of 5727596, S200X400VA1Y correlates to 5727596-7. If S200X400VA1Y matches the size required based on 5727596-1 then S200X400VA1Y is the correct part number from Digikey.
Question: PL ITEM 9-14: The cables that follow the 5855970 cable standard are very similar to the M22759/41 standard. To find commercial equivalents, would it be acceptable to follow the M22759/41 standard?
Answer: The wire identified in the drawing is the acceptable part.
Question: PL ITEM 15: We have received no bids thus far for M22759/46-24-6. We found M22759/46-22-9. is this an acceptable replacement?
Answer: The -9 is a white wire which does not match the -6 which is blue. Please verify you are requesting bids on the correct part numbers.
Question: PL ITEM 15: If the gauge is changed due to the replacement above, can detail "J" (document 6934748) length max change from 6" to 7" or 8" to spread the solder connections?
Answer: Emphasis should be placed on providing the correct product.
Question: PL ITEM 19: The provided part number, SN63WRMAP3, SOLDER, TIN LEAD by Kester, is slightly different than what was found through Digi Key, CWSN63WRMAP3. Seeking confirmation that this is the same or an approved alternative.
Answer: They are not the same and it is not an approved alternative.
N6572624R0002
Question: PL ITEM 20: What denier will be needed for item number 20, Type PSTR Form Y?
Answer: Denier is determined by the requirements in Dwg. 5856020-0101. Coverage must be uniform and braid strands shall be closed enough to prohibit sight of wires under bundle. Carries and strands per carry are determined by the diameter of the cable. The drawing is non-specific on denier for this reason. For informational purposes, the current cables in Government possession have denier of 1100.
Question: PL ITEM 20: What are the number of ends, bonded or unbonded, and package type (cardboard tube or ratchet bobbin)?
Answer: These requirements should be determined by the vendor.
Question: Will the Government considering modifying FOB from Destination to Origin with DCMA inspection occurring at the contractor's facility?
Answer: No
Question: A list of acronyms is not identified in Section L. Is a list of acronyms to be provided and if so is it excluded from the page count?
Answer: A list of acronyms may be used and the list would be excluded from the page count.
