About this file

This document is a Comparison Report between the customer's drawing requirements and the supplier's (Rochester Cable, Inc.) compliance for the AN/BRR-6 Tow Cable. The report covers various requirements such as material, temperature, cable length, conductor design, armor design, ribbon fairing, workmanship, quality assurance provisions, electrical tests, hydrostatic tests, strength tests, flexibility tests, and preparation for delivery. The supplier has noted exceptions or minor exceptions to some of the requirements, and provided clarifications and comments. The report also references a related federal contract opportunity, Solicitation Number N64498-24-R-0050, issued by the Department of the Navy Naval Sea Systems Command for the procurement of the AN/BRR-6 Tow Cable.

3.4 DC Resistance

Exception. Given that the production and test areas are not environmentally controlled – a temp correction factor will be utilized. RH in the production area can exceed 60% in summer.

3.5 Capacitance

Exception. ●Based upon values measured during most recent cable build (Q61730) – the adjacent conductor capacitance values should be 22.6 pf/ft ± 10%.

● It is not clear what 4.1.2.4 of Reference 2.5 is.

4. Hydrostatic Tests Comply. A single 1,500 ft length will be taken from each master production length and tested

Temperature corrections shall be permitted. (methods shall be concurred to by NSWCPD) michael.resciniti Sticky Note Concur, will be updated on next rev.

michael.resciniti Sticky Note NUWC measured 23.48 on the 1500 ft section. 22.6 was the simulated value that Isaac calculated. NSWCPD will adjust the value to 23.0 +/- 10% to account for the variance.

4.1.2.4 of Reference 2.5 is the assembly production spec. (8628346)

Conductor Element A Exception. Single ends of Cu Clad steel are brazed when necessary. Minimum spacing is two full lay lengths.

Conductor Element B Comply. -

Electrical Core Comply.

Inner Layer Comply.

Outer Layer Comply.

michael.resciniti Sticky Note Unclear what "single ends" is referring to. Due to early Bend over Sheave failures at NSWCPD, we would like to understand if this condition could have been part of the root cause. Request Rochester provide brazing map of cable for future failure analysis if requirement can't be met.
