1.0 INTRODUCTION

The Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC), Corona Division has a requirement to clean and inspect B575 mechanical equipment associated to Air Handler 3 (AH3). This work includes repair damaged/missing insulation, changing filters, cleaning coils, supply registers and ductwork.

2.0 BACKGROUND

AH3 is located on the second floor of B544. AH3 covers the east and south side of the building spanning across multiple rooms. The ductwork is located approximately 10 above finished floor in the interstitial space between the ceiling tiles and corrugated roof deck. There is approximately 800 linear feet of ductwork of various sizes ranging from 34”x34” to 10”x10”.

Building occupants within AH3 Zones have reported organic fiber and particulates dispersing through the supply registers.

AH3 mechanical system includes interconnecting ductwork and the following components:

AH-3: 2nd Floor Mechanical Room 2307 FP-11: Hallway Room 2300 FP-23: Room 2301 FP-22: Room 2301 FP-21: Hallway Room 2400 FP-20: Hallway Room 2400 FP-19: Hallway Room 2400 Forty-five 2’ x 2’ Supply Registers

3.0 SCOPE

AH3 HVAC system shall be cleaned using mechanical cleaning methods designed to extract contaminants from within the HVAC system and safely removed from the facility. The HVAC system shall be visibly clean and capable of passing cleanliness verification methods in accordance with applicable industry standards.

The HVAC system includes any interior surface of the facilities air distribution system for conditioned spaces and/or occupied zones. This includes all heating, ventilation and Air Conditioning systems from the points where the air enters the system to the points where the air is discharged from the system. The return air grilles, return air ducts to the air handling unit, interior surfaces of the air handling unit, coil section, condensate drain pans, supply air ducts, fans, fan housing, fan blades, turning vanes, filters, filter housings, reheat coils, and supply diffusers are all considered part of the HVAC system.

4.0 APPLICABLE CODES AND STANDARDS

Work, materials, and equipment shall comply with the most restrictive of local, state, and federal authorities’ codes and ordinances or these plans and specifications. As a minimum, the installation shall comply with the current editions in effect 30 days prior to the receipt of bids of the following codes:
