About this file
This is a Questions and Answers document addressing lift and installation requirements for equipment assembly within a high-bay facility. The document provides technical specifications and clarifications regarding crane operations, personnel requirements, and facility constraints for a federal contract involving missile-related equipment installation.
Key lift requirements include: foundation weight of 4,000 lbs; hatch and cover assemblies weighing 2,000 lbs individually or 4,000 lbs when assembled; additional equipment lifts for a fire control cabinet (maximum 700 lbs) and missile exhaust containment structure (maximum 2,200 lbs). The hatch and cover assembly and foundation assembly both measure 15 feet wide by 14 feet long, though heights are not provided. The missile exhaust containment structure dimensions are 7.12' x 3.61' x 7.76'. The facility constrains operations to a maximum safe working height of 240 inches, with the building entry doorway also measuring 240 inches. The crane must operate fully inside the building, as no overhead opening exists for exterior setup with interior reach. One certified rigger, one signalman, and one crane operator are required in addition to crane equipment. Lift weights, pick-point details, and load diagrams will be identified in Section 3.0 of the Statement of Work, though detailed drawings, photos, and center of gravity information are not currently available. No formal lift plan requirement has been identified, and no setup footprint limitations or outrigger restrictions have been identified within the high-bay area.

Text version
• Exact weight of the foundation o 4000 lbs
• Exact weight of the hatch and cover assemblies o Hatch and Cover Individually = 2000 lbs o Hatch and Covers Assembled = 4000 lbs
• Estimated weight of any additional equipment to be lifted o Additional lift/holds may be required when assembling equipment onto the
Foundation, but are not limited to:
One Equipment Cabinet (Fire control cabinet) Max lift of 700lbs One Missile Exhaust Containment structure Max Lift 2200lbs
• Overall dimensions (L x W x H) of each item o Hatch and cover assembly: 15’ wide × 14’ long o Foundation Assembly: 15’ wide × 14’ long o Missile Exhaust Containment Structure: 7.12’ x 3.61’ x 7.76’ o I do not have dimensions for the smaller lift.
o I do not have heights for hatch and cover/foundation assembly.
• Drawings and/or photos showing lifting points o No photos or drawings are available.
• Center of gravity information (if available) o Researching… Not available at this time.
• Confirmation whether a formal lift plan is required o Not that I’m aware. The lift details will be listed in section 3.0 of the statement of work.
• Confirmation whether certified riggers are required in addition to the crane operator o Yes, we need one Rigger, one Signalman, and one Crane Operator in addition to the crane equipment.
• Does the 240" (20-foot) clearance apply only to the building entry, or does it also represent the maximum working height inside the facility?
o The safe working height is 240”. The door entry way for the building is 240”.
(Section 3.1 of the SOW).
• Will the crane be required to operate fully inside the building, or is exterior setup with reach into the structure permitted?
o The crane will be required to operate fully inside the building. There is no overhead opening to allow for crane to reach inside to installation site.
• Are lift weights, pick-point details, or load diagrams available for the foundation and hatch/cover assemblies?
o Lift weights will be identified in section 3.0 of the SOW. Pick-point details, or load diagrams are not available
• Are there any setup footprint limitations (e.g., outrigger restrictions) within the high-bay area?
o None have been identified.
