About this file
This PowerPoint presentation outlines the AN/UYQ-70 Advanced Display System (Q-70), a legacy combat system used aboard over 90 naval vessels that is projected to require sustainment through 2034 and possibly 2045. The Q-70 family of equipment consists of components such as the AEGIS Display System, Acoustic Display Console, Command & Decision Control, Embedded Processing System, Mission Critical Enclosure, and Secure Voice System. The presentation provides technical details on these various components and describes the Naval Sea Systems Command's role in providing combat system lifecycle support, system engineering, testing and evaluation, integrated logistics support, and maintenance for the Q-70 system.
The related solicitation seeks industry participants for an Industry Day event on July 31, 2018 to discuss the Q-70 Advanced Display System and the long-term support needed to sustain this legacy equipment through its end of service life. Interested offerors are invited to attend the event to receive an overview of the system, capabilities, limitations and support requirements from the Naval Surface Warfare Center Port Hueneme Division.

Q-70 Overview AN/UYQ-70(V) Advanced Display System (commonly referenced as UYQ-70 ADS, Q70, or Q-70) was fielded in the late 1990s as an enterprise set of equipment in support of AEGIS CGs, DDGs, Allied AEGIS, FMS, CVN ships, and submarines For surface ships, the Q-70 family of equipment consists of the AEGIS Display System (ADS), Acoustic Display Console (ADC), Command & Decision Control (C&D), Embedded Processing System (EPS), Mission Critical Enclosure (MCE), Peripheral Emulation Program Console (PEP), Secure Voice System (SVS), SPA-25 Radar Repeater (SPA-25), Ship Self-Defense System (SSDS), and variants of each The Q-70 family is legacy equipment, having been in service across more than 90 combatant ship platforms and users. Q-70 has been out of major production for almost 20 years; however, current requirements project ship sustainment need through 2034 and recent discussions projecting the need through 2045 Presently, the Q-70 as an enterprise system and has been fielded for significantly longer in-service periods than originally anticipated. This has created a critical need to address the gaps in products and services provided for long-term supportability of the Q-70 equipment, particularly the AEGIS program

OJ-719(V) AEGIS Command and Decision Console (CND)
The console is a militarized operator console containing COTS components.
The lower console section (located below the bullnose assembly) has a hinged panel to access the VME cards, Mass Media Storage Devices (MMSDs), power subsystem, and two backup batteries. The lower section also contains the control panel assembly and communications footswitch.
The bullnose assembly contains the keyboard, the trackball assembly, a landscape-oriented touch-sensitive X-Terminal display, a communications alert (buzzer) assembly, buzzer DISABLE/RESET switch, five (5) console status indicators, and a keyboard dimmer control. The landscape X-Terminal is also known as the bullnose X-Terminal.
The upper console section (immediately above the bullnose assembly) contains the console display(s), an X-Terminal, a communications panel and cooling equipment (fans and heat exchanger assembly). The X-Terminal display in the upper section is also known as the console or portrait X-Terminal. The console rear contains numerous panels for interconnecting the console to external power and to external elements of the combat system.
AN/UYQ-70 Advanced Display System

OJ-720 AEGIS Display System (ADS) The console is a militarized operator console cabinet that contains COTS circuitry in a Versa Module Eurocard (VME) bus architecture chassis with a flat panel display.
The console has a flat panel color display, ruggedized for shipboard use. The flat panel display has an On-Screen Display (OSD) control panel for brightness, contrast, screen resolution and other settings.
The bullnose operator panel assembly, located on the upper right corner of the bullnose, contains battle short and console status indicators. The trackball assembly, located on the right side of the bullnose, contains the trackball and associated switches. The keyboard, located on the bullnose, is a standard 101-key keyboard. The bullnose X-Terminal panel, located in front of the monitor, is an Electro-Luminescent (EL) panel with a 7-inch by 8.5-inch resistive touch screen color display surface for interfacing with the operating systems. It has no external controls or indicators.
The console X-Terminal panel is located to the left of the monitor. The CMT communications panel, located on the upper left corner of the console provides the operator with the capability to communicate in any of four modes, in addition to a backup Sound Power (SP) mode: Interphone, Network (NET), Radio Telephone (RT), or Conference (CONF). The communications footswitch provides the capability to operate the push-to-talk microphone via a foot-operated switch. The control panel assembly, located on the upper left corner on the lower cabinet, contains controls and indicators for local control of power to the console.

Rack Based Console (RBC)
The cabinet is a militarized equipment cabinet that contains COTS components.
The control panel assembly located at the top of the cabinet contains controls and indicators for local control and monitoring of the power supplied to the RBC cabinet. The control panel also provides local monitoring of certain fault conditions.
The cabinet is equipped with a flat panel display (FPD) assembly with a lightweight, active matrix color Liquid Crystal Displays (LCD) panel. The FPD screen appearance is controlled by a menu button on the bezel which operates in conjunction with "up" and "down" buttons to guide the operator through the on-screen display. Power, fault, and over-temperature indicators are also mounted on the bezel, and a power switch is located at the rear of the FPD. The keyboard and trackball are part of a fully integrated assembly located on a retractable drawer.
The assembly is designed so that the operator can readily access the trackball while using the keyboard. The RBC cabinet contains, within its upper section, a color monitor, two or more Mass Media Storage Device (MMSD) drawers, and a retractable drawer containing a keyboard/trackball assembly.
The lower section has a hinged door to access the VME cards, the power supply, and backup batteries.
