ACCESS/VISIT REQUEST INSTRUCTIONS FOR CONTRACTORS
Effective 20 December 2013, Contractors sponsored by Supervisor of Shipbuilding, Conversion and Repair, USN, Newport News, Virginia (SUPSHIPNN) requiring access to Newport News Shipbuilding (NNS) must submit the following documentation to SUPSHIPNN Command Security Department:
· NNS Non-Employee Access Badge Request (Form NN 9327)
· List of all contractors on Form NN 9327
· NNS Drive-In Tag Request (Form NN 9297), if applicable
· Camera User Agreement (Form NN 9228A), if applicable
· Background Check Documentation (if there is no DoD clearance in JPAS)
In addition, to protect Personally Identifiable Information (PII), this documentation must be submitted to SUPSHIPNN utilizing a website called Safe Access File Exchange (SAFE). SAFE is made available by the Army Aviation and Missile Research Development and Engineering Center (AMRDEC) and supported by other military departments and Department of the Navy. SAFE enables individuals to post, ENCRYPT PII and authorize others to view and download such material by use of a PASSWORD PROTECTED process.
When using the SAFE website, if possible, utilizes the “CAC User” option, however, if you do not possess a CAC, utilize the “Non-CAC Users” option (example attached). Also, to ensure the proper encryption of the PII, click on the encrypt email and require CAC for pick-up of recipients options. The procedures for using the SAFE website is located at the below link:
https://safe.amrdec.army.mil/SAFE
Transmission of PII by fax is PROHIBITED.
· All files transferred via SAFE must be for official U. S. Government related business and must be unclassified.
Within the SAFE website, to ensure your information is processed, grant access by providing the e-mails of the following recipients:
Robert.Moore@supshipnn.navy.mil Catina.Mercer@supshipnn.navy.mil Hector.Rivera@supshipnn.navy.mil
Please allow 3 business days for Visit Requests to be processed
If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Hector Rivera (primary contractor visits) at
