About this file

This is a Task Group Instruction (TGI) for cleaning, assessing, and repairing the Lube Oil Sump Tank (8-94-0-F) on the USS Blue Ridge (LCC-19), located in the Engine Room. The work is scheduled to be performed between July 21, 2026, and November 21, 2027, with specific tasks including disconnecting and reconnecting circled flanges, power tool cleaning of surfaces, applying system fluid, and conducting structural repairs. The instruction requires a comprehensive assessment of the tank's condition, including checking preservation coating, structural integrity, and potential damage, with detailed specifications for welding, plate replacement, and surface preparation.

Key technical requirements include removing and installing up to 10 square feet of deteriorated plate, welding 1 linear foot of damaged welds, base metal weld buildup of 60 square inches, and cleaning various surfaces using specific standards. Special requirements include maintaining a clean work area, establishing physical security watch, and ensuring a non-flammable closure for fire zone boundary work. The instruction references multiple technical manuals and drawings, and involves multiple departments and personnel, including planners from Code 231B and 234, and engineers from Codes 250 and 260. Government-furnished materials and services will be provided by SRF-JRMC, including crane services, utility services, and technical support.
