Test Engineer (2x) Small Boat Drivers (2x) Small Boat Deckhands (2-3x) Divers or Swim-Qualified Riggers Tow Vessel Operators + Deckhands MASTT Operator Lifting Personnel Rigger-in-Charge Crane Operator (2x) Crane Barge Line handlers Procedure:
1. Clear area of all unnecessary personnel and equipment.
1. Inspect lifting shackles and place shackles to the top of MASTT.
CAUTION:
Never utilize damaged lifting equipment. If equipment is damaged, tag-out equipment and report to rigger-in-charge.
2. Attach lifting slings to crane.
3. Utilizing the crane, lift the slings to a vertical position.
a. As slings are lifted, examine the slings for any damages.
CAUTION:
Never utilize damaged lifting equipment. If equipment is damaged, tag-out equipment and report to rigger-in-charge.
4. Utilizing the crane, position slings over the lift points.
5. Attach each sling to the lift-point utilizing the 55-tonne shackles.
a. Shorter sling (42’ sling with extra 2” Shackle, or 42.5’ sling) attaches to AFT lifting point.
b. Longer Sling (43’) attaches to FWD lifting point.
c. Unscrew each shackle pin and put the shackle through the lifting point.
6. Attach and rig all tag lines. Utilizing forward and aft most topside d rings.
7. Utilize Crane to place small load on MASTT for stabilization.
CAUTION:
Ensure lift-hook is positioned directly over MASTT, failure to do so will result in MASTT sliding on cradle when lifted
8. Once stabilized, remove all tie-down equipment from MASTT.
9. Remove all personnel from the top of MASTT and remove any overhanging scaffolding or equipment.
WARNING:
Personnel must stand clear of suspended MASTT at all time during hoisting operations. Under no circumstances are personnel to stand under MASTT during hoisting operations.
10. Slowly lift MASTT above cradle and position over water adjacent to barge.
11. Lower MASTT into water.
NOTE:
MBTs will blow as MASTT is lowered into water.
12. Utilize onboard camera to inspect compartment for any signs of leakage or damage.
13. When draft stabilizes, Small boats approach MASTT and hook up into maneuvering configuration.
CAUTION:
If leaks or damage is found, immediately remove MASTT from water.
NOTE:
Small Boats should tie-up tight to the MASTT to ensure proper control and minimal damage to vessel.
14. If no leaks or damage is located, personnel board MASTT and disconnect slings from lifting shackles.
a. Attach any taglines to lifting slings to prevent lifting sling movement.
15. Small boats position MASTT for tow hookup.
16. Tow Vessel maneuvers to position 10-15’ forward of the MASTT bow.
17. Tow Vessel Deckhand ‘lassos’ MASTT Tow point and rigs for tow IAW tow configuration as seen below.

18. MASTT Operator Transfers MASTT to TOW MODE.
19. Tow Vessel releases small boats. Small boats collect personnel from MASTT deck and disconnect from MASTT.
20. Maneuver MASTT away from any hazards.
21. Once clear of hazards areas, set vehicle into TOW CONFIGURATION.

22. Once in Tow Configuration, slowly increase speed as operationally required.
23. Observe towing performance, and make necessary adjustments to control surfaces and tow speed.
24. Tow vessel to OPAREA or mooring position.
1.2 Crane Barge Recovery Procedures
Precaution:
Always clear lifting area of all unnecessary personnel and equipment prior to lift.
Personal Protective Equipment:
Personal Floatation Devices – Required for afloat operations Steel toe shoes – Required for lifting operations Hard Hat – Required for lifting operations Tools/Equipment/Supplies Required:
Lifting Equipment (Single-Crane Configuration):
Crane barge (Minimum Capacity: 150,000 lbs.)
Load Indicating Device (Minimum Capacity: 150,000 lbs.)
(3x) Shackles, 2” Size, 55-tonne – Utilized for lifting fully assembled MASTT.
Sling, 42.5-ft, 90,000lb# Vertical WWL – Utilized for lifting the fully assembled vehicle.
Sling, 43’, 90,000lb# Vertical WWL – Utilized for lifting the fully assembled vehicle.
Handheld radios (provided for: SB1, SB2, Test Engineer, and Rigger-in-Charge) (4x) 50 feet tag lines.
Prerequisites:
A. MASTT is powered on and all applicable checks have been completed.
B. Small boats crewed, operable, and on station.
C. All rigging and towing gear inspected and certified (if applicable).
D. Area around cradle is clear, and cradle is ready to receive the MASTT system.
E. Crane is manned and ready for operation.
Personnel:
Test Engineer (2x) Small Boat Drivers (2x) Small Boat Deckhands (2-3x) Divers or Swim-Qualified Riggers Tow Vessel Operators + Deckhands MASTT Operator Lifting Personnel Rigger-in-Charge Crane Operator (2x) Crane Barge Line handlers Procedure:
1. Ensure laydown cradle area is clear of debris.
1. Ensure tag lines are attached to lifting shackles.
27. Once arrived at crane barge area, reduce speed until MASTT is stationary.
CAUTION:
MASTT has a large amount of momentum and will take a large distance to come to a stationary position. Recommend utilizing backing-bell as necessary to get and hold a stationary position.
28. MASTT Operator changes MODE from TOW MODE, to REMOTE CONTROL MODE.
29. Small boat approaches MASTT and hook up in to maneuvering configuration.
a. To ensure no damage to small boats or MASTT, small boats should attach to MASTT as tightly and as close to the hull as safety possible.
30. Once stationary begin backing down with tow vessel and simultaneously recovering tow line.
CAUTION:
Failure to recover tow line quickly enough could cause tow line to become entangled with tow vessel prop.
31. Continue recovering tow line and allow tow point line to de-thread itself out of the tow point. Once all tow line has been recovered, secure and stow all tow lines.
NOTE:
If MASTT line becomes tangled during this process, utilize swimmer to board MASTT to assist with recovery. Pulling on line with vessel will cause tow line to knot.
32. Small boats maneuver MASTT to optimal lifting location.
33. Small boat personnel board MASTT, attach lifting hardware and tag lines.
34. Crane barge takes slack, and slight strain on MASTT to bring MASTT under control.
35. Small boats personnel disembark.
36. Small boats disconnect from MASTT and move away from lifting location.
37. Crane lifts MASTT system 1 foot above standard draft.
38. Rigger-in-charge inspects rigging, and ensures all hardware has been properly loaded.
a. If rigging is incorrectly loaded, lower MASTT and adjust gear.
39. Rigger-in-charge directs crane to continue lift.
40. During lift, blow MASTT MBTs, if crane-weight indicates a higher weight than normal (~143k lbs), via Remote Control to ensure MBTs are empty.
CAUTION:
Lift MASTT slowly to allow ballast water to escape. Lifting too quickly may overload crane.
CAUTION:
Ensure MASTT is lifted level to prevent lifting equipment overload.
41. Crane maneuvers MASTT above cradle/laydown area.
42. Crane slowly lowers MASTT into the cradle, keeping some strain on the gear.
43. Test Engineer verifies MASTT aligned properly in the cradle.
44. Once secured, crane shall slack the gear, allowing riggers to remove all lifting gear.
