Bidder’s Questions
N50054-21-Q-0079
USS Laboon Pre-SRA Offload
1. Q: Paragraph 3.1 states the contractor shall provide support personnel and crane and forklift(s) for USS LABOON to remove listed items. The contractor shall utilize standard rigging practices and experience. If we are using the crane, what would the forklift be used for?
A: The forklift usage will be coordinated with the GOVT Supervisor and is for the movement on the pier of items removed from the ship for staging for transportation, loading items removed on pallets onto government trucks when ship’s force is able to arrange. The timing of the removals and loading may require forklift usage to maintain clear fire lane and safe working area.
2. Q: Are there dimensions for the items being transported by truck to the MHI facility?
A: 1) Director stands (3) each are 6’ x 9’ x 11’ with directors installed.
2) Antennas are going to be stored in connex box (3) each 6’ x 9’ x 6’
3. Q: Which antennas are going to be removed and where on the ship will we be making lifts from?
I need this information to determine the size crane we need to support the job so I can put in a bid for this work.
A: 05 level is the highest level, but they are spread out to include the 03 and 04 as well. There will be some on both yardarms, both inboard and outboard. This will include those antennas on the flight deck and a few on both forward and aft stack.
4. Q: Can we meet with someone on site to ensure we have the proper machine for the scope of work?
A: A member of the USS Laboon Maintenance Team will be available for a ship check on
Tuesday July 20, 2021 at 1:00 pm. The ship will be located at pier 5 berth 1 at Naval Station
Norfolk.
5. Q: Do we need to supply a forklift with an operator? How many forklift(s) are you asking for?
A: One Forklift with operator.
6. Q: Do you need a low-boy semi-truck and operator as well? How many low boy(s) are you looking for?
A: Low-boy semi-truck and operator are required for the transportation of items listed in reply to bidder’s question # 2 to MHI Berkley facility. Number of trucks should be based on that transfer.
1) Director stands (3) each are 6’ x 9’ x 11’ with directors installed.
