About this file

This Performance Work Statement (PWS) details a contract for chrome plating services for a SUBSAFE/VEL hydraulic accumulator cylinder at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility (PSNS & IMF). The specific requirements include receiving a single hydraulic accumulator cylinder from the government, removing existing chrome plating, and re-plating the cylinder's interior with chrome to precise specifications: a minimum thickness of .0002" and maximum of .025", with a final cylinder diameter of 13.474" to 13.478" and a maximum total indicator runout of .002".

The contract is a Firm-Fixed Price type, with the contractor responsible for comprehensive quality control and reporting. Key deliverables include an Acceptance Test Report (CDRL A001) documenting hardness testing and a Condition Found Report (CDRL A002) detailing cylinder measurements before and after plating. The work must be performed between 0702 AM and 1602 PM, Monday through Friday, at the contractor's facility, with specific technical requirements referencing ASTM E 384-22, SAE AMS 2460 Rev B, and NAVSEA Drawing 6405530 Rev E. The government will provide the cylinder, and the contractor must manage all other aspects of the chrome plating process.
