Amendment 0006 7328487 Provide Prohibited/Restricted Signs at Range and Training Areas BT11 & BT09
RFI Responses:
1. When we supply Highway and Interstate sign panels there are appropriate pre-punched holes on the blanks for mounting that are then overlayed with the sheeting. However, field drilling is still utilized by the installers per their needs. Note 2.2 Flat Aluminum Side Panels States, "Aluminum sign panels must conform to ASTM B209, alloy-temper 6061-T6 or 5052-H38. The blanks must be free from laminations, blisters, open seams, pits, holes, other defects that may affect their appearance or use. The thickness must be uniform and the blank commercially flat.
Can holes be drilled in the field for installation purposes?
Response:
Submit proposals in accordance with RFP, Specifications, Drawings and all amendments.
2. When we supply standard interstate/highway signs MUTCD the aluminum blank is .080” thick.
The note in document 7328487+DwgAsOne calls out .1285” min thickness. We can have blanks cut in this thickness but would not have pre-punched holes. Would 0.80" thickness be acceptable?
3. Could the government provide detail or specifications for the solar powered light?
NOTE – Government does not have this information available.
4. When will the UXO Technician conduct a subsurface survey?
Submit proposals in accordance with RFP, Specifications, Drawings and all amendments.
NOTE – The contractor is responsible for hiring the UXO and scheduling their work. Refer to Specification 01 14 00, Part 1.2.
5. Will the subsurface survey be provided to bidding contractors so costs can be properly qualified?
Response:
Submit proposals in accordance with RFP, Specifications, Drawings and all amendments.
6. Will the UXO's time be billed to the contractor for this project? If so, could the UXO's contact information be provided and an extension in bid time be granted to coordinate bid efforts.
Response:
NOTE – The contractor is responsible for hiring the UXO.
Amendment 0006 7328487 Provide Prohibited/Restricted Signs at Range and Training Areas BT11 & BT09
7. Will there be a lay down area available and designated area for a job-site trailer?
8. Where are the boat launch areas to be utilized for this work?
NOTE – Refer to Specification 01 14 00, Part 1.4.3.
9. Will the Thorofare Bridge parking area and dock be available for us to use?
NOTE – Refer to Specification 01 14 00, Part 1.4.3.
10. Will jetting of land post be allowed in areas not accessible by barge or equipment?
See RFI 3 Responses.
11. Clarification- Sheet C-403 detail 7 refers to #5 signs to be mounted on new landward mounted post at BT-9, but there is no land at BT-9.
12. Will test pilings be required for waterward pling if the depth of water is known at the location of waterward pilings to be installed at BT-9? Spec say provide and drive 6 test piles 5' longer than required, but only 3 waterward pilings are required for this project. This would be treated as a separate project in itself with its own mobilization and demobilization to be done prior to the actual project and will carry a significant cost.
13. Are test pilings required for the 6 x 6 landward post when the embedment is specified to 6'?
