RFI RESPONSES
Building 1362 / Building 446 Elevated Walkway Soffit Repair
**In addition to RFI responses below, a revised Scope of Work has been provided as an attachment with this amendment. Enclosure 1, Enclosure 2, and Enclosure 3 are also included as seperate attachments (orignally included in Scope of Work attachment)**
RFI #1
Can the end user please provide the width of the panels to be installed, it appears to be either 6.00' or 8.00' per attached A-304 building section detail?
The measurement of the width of the elevated walkway on the Drawing A-304 Section Detail (Enclosure 1) could not be clearly read and so I went on site to check the measurement. The length of the aluminum slat panels is 8’-0” +/-.
RFI #2
The SOW states only the panels need to be replaced. Is the contractor to replace the carrier beam as well which supports the panels? This is highly recommended given the oxidation and damage to the existing carrier beam?
If it is meant that the angle attached to the bottom support of the walkway bridge structure supporting the existing suspended slat panels is considered the carrier beam, then yes the angles at each side of the soffit should be replaced with a new aluminum angle. If mid-span support can be added to the soffit in order to support the suspended aluminum slat panels more effectively, then that support should be added.
RFI #3
Can the offer provide alternative suspended panel systems rather than the panel specified within the SOW?
Yes. Any aluminum suspended slat panel system would be acceptable as long as it is similar to the existing aluminum suspended slat panel system in appearance and color, and is made of heavy gauge aluminum so as to be able to withstand the high winds that blow through the area between the two buildings on either side of the elevated walkway.
Enclosure 3 is meant to be an example of the preferred type of aluminum suspended slat panel expected to be used. The width of the suspended aluminum slat panel is specified in Enclosure 3 as a snap together panel that is 5.235” overall in width. This would amount to 4.87” of exposed surface width per panel when mounted with other panels. The total span of the elevated walkway soffit to be replaced between the steel truss towers is 93’-4-1/2”.The new aluminum suspended slat panel system may be painted to match the existing soffit, or it may be provided with a factory finish similar to the existing soffit color.
RFI #4
In the Scope of work there is only the mention of replacing the soffit panels. There is no mention of re-painting any of the existing building trim into what the panels are set into.
Please confirm this.
It was determined that the underside trim around the soffit to have the rust scraped off and to be painted to match the existing color
File details come from the government source that posted it. Updated .
