Drawing Number Question Response

26 14 21 23 In reviewing the project documents, it appears the specifications are calling for one type of elevator and the drawings show a different type. Please clarification what type of elevator you want.

The specifications call out the correct desired elevator type; a geared traction elevator.

27 ED101 On Drawing ED101 Note 7 states to demo a temporary disconnect feeding an adjacent building. What size disconnect need to be removed and is there cabling/wiring that will also need to be removed?

Removals Keynote 7 indicates that the temporary power disconnect is to be removed "by others". The associated conduit and cables will also be removed "by others".

28 ED101 On Drawing ED101 in reference to note 10 and the removal of the cable and conduit associated with the (2) phone boxes. What shall we consider for cable and lengths in each conduit?

Refer also to sheet ED202, Removals Keynote 5. These cabinets are understood to be no longer in use. The removal of cables is to permit removal of conduits down to just below slab level. For bidding purposes, assume 20 conduits per box.

Most conduits are empty.

For bidding purposes per box, assume (4) # 16 copper cables in each of 4 conduits.

29 ED101 On Drawing ED101 note 16, how long is the conduit to be removed or where does it terminate?

For bidding purposes, assume this conduit is 70 feet long and it terminates on the exterior of the building.

30 ED102 On Drawing ED102, Are there any batteries to be removed in the DC room?

The electrical equipment identified as "DC" is shown on Sheet ED102 in Storage Room 108, Removals Keynotes 6, 7, 8 and 9 refer to equipment which was once powered by a shipyard DC system. There is no "DC Room." There are no batteries to be removed.

31 ED102 Can an existing DC one-line drawing be provided?

Refer to response to #20.

There is no DC one line available.

32 ED102 On Drawing ED102, The AC unit, break room condensing unit and CU/? shown to be demoed. Where are these three units fed from and what size conduit is feeding them?

For bidding purposes, assume power wiring to be removed from each of the three items of equipment as

(4) # 6, 1 1/4-inch conduit.

For bidding purposes, assume these three items of equipment are fed from Panel PP1, Refer to Sheet ED101 for location of panel

PP1.

33 ED104 On drawing ED104, Note 2 & 3.” Remove items on wall above 8’’x8’’x72’’ wireway” What are the items above the wireway to be removed?

The starters and combination starters, along with associated conduit and wire, which are identified by Removals keynotes 1 and 2 are the items to be removed.

34 ED501 ED501, can dimension for the pad mounted switchgear and transformer be provided?

The information provided on ED501 includes transformer size and voltage, manufacturer and a model number, along with the approximate weight based upon name plate information attached to the unit. Refer to project Civil Sheet CX101, existing Keynote 30 and removals keynote 7, for approximate foot print of this equipment and its concrete base.

35 Spec Section 01 45 00

1.5.2 The quality assurance

specification 014500 indicates commissioning is being procured through the Architect / Engineer per specification

014500.0020 section

1.5.2. However, the

commissioning specification 019100.15-

1.1 indicates that the prime contractor is to procure services through with commissioning as a first-tier sub. Please clarify who is to carry the cost of commissioning.

A-E will provide commissioning.

36 Please confirm that all of the equipment in specification 11 31 13 Electric Kitchen Equipment will be paid for through CLIN 0004 – Planned Modification Item 1, Furniture, Fixtures and Equipment.

Yes, that is correct.

37 When does the Navy expect to award this project and at what point does the 459 days of the contract duration start?

If the contract duration starts months before the building is unoccupied in March 2020, will the contractor be allowed more time for the work?

material removals required, the general contractor would not be able to start any new construction in the building for 5 months after the March 2020 occupancy cut-off date.

This would leave only 10 months for construction if the contract duration started in March 2020. Can the contract duration be extended?

39 Due to the complexity of the project and multiple subcontractor clarifications needed, can the bid date be extended by another week?

Bid date will be extended from August 23rd to August 29th.

40 EP601 Panelboard PP1 calls out for a 400amp GFI breaker for the outside receptacle at stair tower

2. The one lines and panel schedule calls for a 3 wire panelboard. It is not possible to have a GFI breaker in a 3 wire panelboard as a neutral is required for a GFI

In lieu of providing a 400amp GFCI breaker as presently scheduled for PP-1

– 37,39,41, provide that breaker as a 400-amp shunt trip breaker with 120-volt shunt trip coil. Adjacent to Panel PP-1, provide a 400 amp, 3 phase, 3 wire in-line ground fault detection system. The ground fault detection system to consist of a 400 amp, 480 volts, 3 phase, 3 wire ground fault sensor and relay, a set of current transformers, NEMA 3R enclosures for both components, and wiring a 120-volt circuit through the ground fault sensor system to provide power to the coil on the 400-amp shunt trip breaker to disconnect power when a ground fault condition is detected.

Provide manufacturers wiring diagrams as a Shop Drawing for this system.

Field adjust settings per manufacturer recommendations. Provide 120-volt shunt trip circuit from panel LP-1 –

20, presently scheduled as a spare, 20/1 breaker. Basis of Design for 400 amp ground fault sensor: Bender Inc:

Linetraxx RCMA 423 for 3 phase, 3 wire systems. Basis of design for 400 amp CT products : Bender Inc, W.AB series with both DC and AC sensing, 400 amp rated.
