The 20" column on Truss T6 has gusset plates top and bottom that slide through slots in the pipe and then connect internally, with some of these connections being skewed. We do not believe we can reach 30" into the column to perform the required welding and testing. This would mean we would need to start the slots from the ends of the column and slide the prefabricated gusset weldments into the slots which would leave approximately 13" of open slots on the lower end and 2" on the upper end of the column. Please advice if this is acceptable, or if there is an alternate method.

Prefabricating the skewed gusset plates and sliding them into slots at the ends of the column as noted is structurally acceptable. As described in the structural drawings, all members shall be sealed to prevent water infiltration.

To meet this requirement using the approach described above, we recommend extending the gusset plates to the ends of the slots and providing a continuous weld between the gusset plate and the pipe along the length of the slot to provide a watertight seal.

Option 3

Plans

Item 0001u states to remove and support rigid galvanized steel electrical conduits. Please clarify if the intent is to temporarily remove and support, then reinstall the conduit back to it's initial location.

Yes, the intent is to temporarily remove and support, and reinstall the conduit back to its initial location. 2

0003 12/8/2017 Drawing G-

Item 0001g -It appears that there are 2 A-

Frames per canopy area with 2 penetration pockets per each A-Frame for a total of 12 base bid penetration pockets; however the base bid quantity is 24 penetrations per Helix House.

Please clarify.

Revise Base Bid Quantity for Item

0001g to 12 and Option 1 Quantity for Item 0001g to 12.

0004 12/8/2017 Drawing G-

Item 0001c thru e - Note 2 of details A3 & C3 on drawing SD206 states the maximum area of demolition is 72"x72" or 36 sf. If there are 9 areas for the ice shield penetrations, the maximum demolition area is 324 sf. Detail C3 on SD207 shows a demolition area of 2'x2' or 4 sf for the A-Frame penetrations and if there are

12 areas, the area of demolition is equal to 48 sf.

This produces a total area of demolition of 372

sf. Please clarify the locations of the remaining quantity for these items.

The area of demolition on Sheet

SD206 is in reference to the limit of concrete deck demolition. The extent of roofing and roof pavers removal will be greater to facilitate the roofing repairs indicated on

Sheets AE120 through AE502.

0005 12/8/2017

Detail B2 on

Drawing

SF509

The drawings require welds of the existing cap plates to the columns that the new ice shield legs are attached to, to be reinforced as required.

Does the penetration through the concrete deck have to be large enough to accommodate a person to reach under to see and do the welding or is there another means of access to the underside of the cap plates?

The reference columns are exterior to the existing buildings and all welds at underside of cap plate are currently exposed. Demolition of the existing roof slab should not be required to inspect the existing welds.

In the Solicitation, it states that this RFP uses

NAICS Code 237130 which is set aside small business standard $36,500,000. It also states that the Acquisition is being solicited as Full and

Open Competiiton. As I understand, this implies that any firm whose gross average annual revenues over the past 3 years do not exceed $36.5 million dollars are entitled to bid on this project. And, that any company whose gross average annual revenues over the past 3 years are greater than $36.5 million are excluded from bidding this opportunity. Please clarify.

0021 12/15/2017 G002 / G004 Drawings Drawing

Drawing G002, General Project Notes # 13 states "Asbestos containing Materials are not expected to be encountered during the execution of the work." Yet, the Unit Price Quantity

Schedule item 0001M on sheet G0004 requests a square footage price for the removal of asbestos during the base bid construction phase.

Please provide specific detasils of the type and location(s) of the anticipated asbestos materials.

As the note indicates, asbestos containing materials are not expected to be encountered, therefore, information on the type(s) and location(s) cannot be provided. The unit price is included so that if an unforseen material is encountered, there is a monetary amount in place for payment purposes.

0022 12/18/2017 G-004

Please confirm that the bid quantities shown on the schedule on sheet G-004 represent the intended pay quantities for the Base and Option

1 Items. Also, is it the intent to have us also carry the quantities listed in the columns labeled as (add) in the corresponding base and option 1 bids?

The indicated quantities on Sheet G-

004 represent the Government's anticipated / calculated quantities for the Base Bid and Option 1.

Include the (add) quantities in the pricing for the Base Bid and Option

1.

We have been told by the existing roof installer that the roof warranties have been cancelled due to roof damage that occurred a few years ago.

If there is no current roof warranty, what will the contractor be responsible for in terms of warranty preservation?

The Contractor would not be responsible for an existing voided warranty; however, any new or corrective roofing work performed by the Contractor in the implementation of the project would need to meet the roofing system manufacturer's requirements and inspections.
