Additional information relevant to possible bidders for NPTU barges (RAV) 031-19
Q1: Will there be any other work on board the barge(s) by any activity other than SERMC during this period?
A1: YES, BARGE STAFF AND STUDENT ADMINSTRATIVE WORK, TRAINING, AND ROUTINE MAINTENANCE. CONTRACTOR WORK SUCH AS CHT AND HVAC WILL NEED TO BE SEQUENCED AND COORDINATED WITH BARGE STAFF IN PHASES AS THE BARGE WILL BE OCCUPIED.
Q2: Will the barges be occupied during the repair period?
A2: YES, NPTU STAFF AND STUDENTS WILL CONTINUE CONDUCTING ADMINSTRATIVE WORK AND TRAINING. NPTU WILL COORDINATE WITH SERMC AND THE CONTRACTOR TO MAKE WORK AREAS AVAILABLE BASED ON A CONTRACTOR SCHEDULE AGREED TO BY SERMC AND NPTU. CONTRACTORS MUST CONSIDER THE BARGE TO BE OCCUPIED AND SEQUENCE WORK AND SPACES AFFECTED TO ACCOMMODATE BOTH BARGE STAFF AND CONTRACTOR NEEDS.
Q3: Is there anything which could interfere with the contractor accomplishing work?
Q3: NPTU DOES NOT ANTICIPATE ANY EXTRAORDINARY DELAYS. NPTU WILL REVIEW THE CONTRACTOR PROPOSED WORK SCHEDULE TO IDENTIFY AND DECONFLICT ANY DELAYS.
Q4: Is there any period which the contractor would not have access to the work site? Holidays, known closures, restrictive days or working hours etc?
A4: NPTU DOES NOT ANTICIPATE ANY RESTRICTIONS TO CONTRACTORS ACCESS OTHER THAN THE NORMAL EVENTS (SECURITY BREACHES, LACK OF ACCESS REQUESTS, HEAVY WEATHER, ETC). CONTRACTORS MUST CONSIDER THE BARGE TO BE OCCUPIED AND SEQUENCE WORK AND SPACES AFFECTED TO ACCOMMODATE BOTH BARGE STAFF AND CONTRACTOR NEEDS.
Q5: If the CONTRACTOR/SUBCONTRACTORS need to secure equipment while at NPTU can they leave it at the pier or is there a location outside the NPTU piers they can use (i.e. generator, compressor, materials)?
A5: NPTU OPERATIONS DEPARTMENT WILL COORDINATE WITH THE CONTRACTOR TO ESTABLISH LAYDOWN AREAS ON THE PIER OR AT A LOCATION OUTSIDE THE NPTU PIERS. NPTU WILL ENSURE EQUIPMENT PLACEMENT DOES NOT INTERFERE WITH EMERGENCY, AND OTHER NPTU SITE WORK AND OPERATIONS. IN THE EVENT OF HEAVY (DESTRUCTIVE) WEATHER, THE CONTRACTOR IS REQUIRED TO REMOVE ALL EQUIPMENT IN ACCORDANCE WITH ATTACHMENT J-7.
Q6. Can the Contractor bring in compressed gases to the piers (i.e. Oxygen, Acetelyne, Argon, etc.?
A6: YES, COMPRESSED GASES MAY BE BROUGHT AND SECURED ON THE PIERS. WHILE THE GASSES ARE CONSIDERED IN USE THEY CAN STAY ON THE PIERS IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE AGREED UPON PIER LAYDOWN. AS STATED ABOVE, ALL EQUIPMENT, INCLUDED GASES, MUST BE REMOVED IN THE EVENT OF HEAVY (DESTRUCTIVE) WEATHER IN ACCORDANCE WITH ATTACHMENT J-7.
