About this file
This document contains questions and answers regarding hydraulic oil flushing services on a Los Angeles-class submarine. The services will include flushing approximately 300 gallons of hydraulic piping ranging in diameter from 2 to 2-1/2 inches using a maximum pressure of 3600 psi and nominal pressure of 1500 psi to attain a flow rate of 30 gallons per minute. The flushing will occur pier side and take approximately 1000 gallons of final fill oil in addition to the flushing oil. Standard connection sizes will be -16 JIC/1 inch. Completion criteria is a water content of less than or equal to 0.05% as specified in SUBMEPP TP 553-5542. Visual inspection is not required.
