QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

Answers to questions received for work item 637-11-001:

Question 8: Paragraph 3.1.1.1 of the work item specification requires the contractor to replace 400 linear feet of damaged overhead false ceiling framing, and the mounting of all overhead and perimeter support frame work appendages to structural supports in the same locations. Is this for the new 400 linear feet or for all? How is it to be attached? Is there any example to follow?

Answer 8: As identified in paragraph 3.1.1 of the work item specification, a total of 400 linear feet of horizontal grid work framing for the overhead panels shall be replaced as identified by the Government and attached in a similar fashion as those in the surrounding area. In addition, all support frame work appendages that were attached to any panel shall be mounted to structural supports by means of welding and or riveting. Contractors shall ensure that the appendages are in its original location and are able to uphold its structural integrity.

Question 9: Paragraph 3.1.2 requires the contractor to grind smooth weld remnants down to existing structure.

Will this put the grinder in contact with “hot” paint?

Answer 9: The contractor is required to test any paint prior to removal and is also required in paragraph 3.1.2.1 of the work item specification to conduct a total of 500 SF of paint abatement in the repair area as stated in 1.2 of the work item specification.

Question 10: Paragraph.3.1.2.1 of the work item specification requires a total of 500 SF of paint abatement in way of repairs. How should the contractor bid on this requirement? Is it 10 each 50 sf containments, 50 each 10 sf containments or 500 each 1 sf removals?

Answer 10: The contractor shall assume one (1) SF X 500 spots.

Question 11: Paragraph 3.2.1 requires the contractor to replace 500 linear feet of fiberglass bounding angle. Will this work item specification also require welding/paint removal?

Answer 11: This bounding angle is 1" x 2” and should be installed in accordance with the drawings which require the toe of the 1” leg to be tack welded to the bulkhead and the 2" leg to be welded to hold back the insulation.

However, the contractor may propose another means of installation via condition found report (CFR) to exclude any welding.
