About this file

This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) file issued by Military Sealift Command (MSC) on 09 June 2026 under solicitation number N3220526R6098. The Q&A provides clarification on crane requirements for a vessel but does not constitute an amendment to the underlying solicitation.

The document addresses four key questions regarding crane specifications. The crane must be a permanent fixture on the vessel, not a portable or temporary installation. It is not required to be a subsea crane. The crane will be subjected to dynamic loads during cargo loading and discharging operations between pier and vessel, rather than static loads. Finally, the crane does not need to be man-rated. These clarifications establish the functional and installation parameters for the crane system being procured under this contract opportunity.
