About this file
This Statement of Requirements (SOR) details the 12,000-hour maintenance requirements for the Main Propulsion Diesel Engines (MPDE) on the USNS TRENTON (T-EPF 5). The document covers maintenance for four MTU Series 8000 Diesel Engines, Model 20V8000M71L, located in two engine rooms, with a scheduled maintenance date of June 30, 2025. The comprehensive maintenance involves Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) authorized representatives performing extensive overhaul tasks, including component replacement, inspection, and testing, with specific requirements for parts, qualification levels, and documentation.
Key requirements include using only OEM parts, conducting detailed inspections and performance tests, maintaining precise documentation, and following a structured maintenance schedule with tasks categorized across four qualification levels (QL1-QL4). The contractor must provide an OEM representative on-site throughout the maintenance, coordinate with ship's force, perform dock trials, and submit multiple reports including condition reports and an "as released" condition report. The maintenance will involve replacing numerous components such as fuel filters, injectors, bearings, seals, and various engine-specific parts, with specific attention to safety devices, alarms, and compliance with technical manuals and MTU service recommendations.
