About this file

This document is a Statement of Requirements (SOR) for propulsion machinery maintenance on the USNS TRENTON (T-EPF 5), specifically targeting the scheduled maintenance of two Main Propulsion Diesel Engines (MPDE) at the 4,000 hour interval. The requirement calls for Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) authorized representatives to perform comprehensive maintenance tasks on MTU Series 8000 Diesel Engines (Model 20V8000M71L), with each engine rated at 9100kW/455kW per cylinder, located in Engine Rooms 1 and 2.

Key requirements include conducting detailed maintenance across multiple qualification levels (QL1-QL4), performing engine overhaul with OEM parts, coordinating with ship's force for system tagouts, and completing extensive pre-startup and startup readiness assessments. The maintenance must include comprehensive inspections, parts replacement, system checks, and performance testing, with mandatory documentation and reporting to MSCREP. The work requires an ABS surveyor inspection at the midpoint of the engine overhaul, and all maintenance must be performed using only OEM-authorized technicians and parts. The maintenance is scheduled for 2025-04-04 and is categorized as a "A" priority item.
