As part of the continued mission, Military Sealift Command (MSC) must operate and maintain a DON/DOD approved Command, Control, Communications, and Computer Systems (C4S) AFLOAT Network Infrastructure to support mariner applications required to conduct the day to day operations of the MSC Fleet. Currently, Shipboard Management Information System (SMIS) serves as the network infrastructure onboard approximately 70 MSC ships, allowing the ships to connect to MSC’s C4S Networks. Within the fleet of SMIS ships, there are roughly 57 ships which cannot support the requirements of the complete SMIS network infrastructure. Therefore these ships are using a “Mini” version. The build is depicted in the drawing above.
