TE-2.2 Power Branching Unit (PBU) - The PBU, as illustrated in figures 1 through 3 below with dimensions in inches, interfaces with four cables. The weight of the PBU, including strain reliefs, is 1,167 lbs. in air and 745 lbs. in seawater.
One of the cable legs connected to the PBU is the interface for the branch power path anode as illustrated figure 2 below. The PBU will be pre-integrated with the anode leg such that the anode pigtail is comprised of SA with a nominal length of approximately 7 meters. In a case where manufacturing rework is required, the anode pigtail length can be as short as 5 meters. For spare PBUs, the other three legs will be integrated with cable pigtails such that standard Millennia joints can be incorporated for shipboard integration of the spare PBU.
The maximum design deployment depth for the PBU is 6,000 meters. Nominal overall dimensions for a PBU are 183 inches long and 19 inch width.

TE-8.0 Submarine Cable Operations Sea Trials Objective: Submarine Cable Operations Sea Trials are performed to ensure all Cable Handling Equipment's (CHE) are mechanically and electrically functioning and are ready for cable operations. All equipment's from the cable tanks, cable decks stem and bow, including the handling equipment that will come in contact with the submarine cable, will be exercised and tested in accordance with an approved Method of Operations (MoP) Plan. •Vessel operator is to develop the MoP and provide to the customer for review and approval prior to Sea Trials.
This specific sea trial will be conducted on the awardee’scable ship prior to final acceptance for cable installationIrepair operations.
The following is a Top Level Sea Trials Outline:
a. Complete final layout inspection of the outfitted cable ship including cable handling spares and supplies. (Est 5 > 8 days pier side),
b. Complete pier side sea trials functional testing of all related CHE installed on board. See Cable
Handing Equipment Acceptance Criteria. (Up to 2 weeks offshore),
c. Load 30 kilometers of specified test cable utilizing the on board CHE, recording speed and lengths,
d. Receive offshore test are coordinates from Customer. (Approximately 150 miles offshore from
Virginia Beach, VA),
e. Complete all provisioning (food, fuel, stores, etc...),
f. Crew, Sponsors and Customer will embark and a pre- sail meeting will be conducted prior to sailing,
g. Set Sail to Sea Trial Area - may need shallow water area to calibrate USBL and set footprint for DP
Operations,
h. Once at Sea Trial Site- Some of these Operations are simultaneous:
• Cable Repair and cable Laying systems:
• Buoy Handing Operations,
• Ground Rope Handling Operations,
• Submarine Cable Lay and Recovery Operations (all cable drums and LCE' s), and if there are two systems both will be tested ,
• Conduct a Cable Splice.
• Supporting Systems:
• Test and Transmission Operations Makai and WinFrog Operations,
• ROV Launch , Recovery and Burial Operations (bury a minimum of 5 km),
• Sea Plow Launch Recovery and Burial Operations (install & bury 10 km of cable), and
• USBL Operations and the interconnect with Makai and WinFrog.
i. Removal of all Cable Hardware and Cable from sea floor,
j. During Sea Trials Vessel and Ships Crew including ROV and Plow Operators will be inspected for efficiency, expertise and overall knowledge of submarine cable handling, installation, and repair techniques,
k. Cable Vessel return to port for offload of sea trials cable and specific equipment's, and
l. De-brief and final inspectionprocess will be conducted.
