Shipyard Support for UPS Installation

1.0 ABSTRACT:

This item describes the Shipyard Support for Government Furnished Contractor for the installation of a replacement UPS System for Engine Room Equipment.

Deck Tubes for Isolation Transformers

3.2.2 Quantities given in the Bill of Materials are considered estimates. The Contractor shall provide reasonable additional material in order to install a fully functional system that meets the requirements of this specification.

4.0 GOVERNMENT FURNISHED EQUIPMENT/MATERIALS/SERVICES:

4.1 GE, Custom Panel and Controls, and materials listed paragraph 3.2.1.

5.0 NOTES

5.1 The contractor and all subcontractors regardless of tier shall consult the General Technical Requirements (GTR) to determine applicability to this work item. In performance of this work item, the contractor and all subcontractors regardless of tier must comply with the requirements of all applicable GTRs including but not limited to GTRs 1 through 7 and 23.

5.2 The contractor and all subcontractors regardless of tier are advised to review other work items under this contract, to determine their effect on the work required under this work item. Many of the definitions relating to performance of this work item are found in Work Item 0001.

5.3 This class of ships contains High Voltage (HV) electrical systems (6.6 kV). The contractor and subcontractors shall obey all posted and verbal instructions regarding safety and exclusion from High Voltage areas. At no time shall a contractor or subcontractor approach, work on, or enter a High Voltage area without proper authorization.

5.4 THE T-AKE CLASS ELECTRICAL COLOR CODING DOES NOT FOLLOW CONSISTENT COLOR SCHEME. THE SHIP IS KNOWN TO HAVE CURRENT CARRYING CONDUCTORS COLORED GREEN, BLUE, BLACK AND WHITE. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL ASSUME ALL ELECTRICAL CABLES ARE HOT UNTIL TESTED OTHERWISE. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL TEST ALL ELECTRICAL CABLES TO ENSURE THEY ARE DEAD PRIOR TO WORK ON THE ITEM.

5.5 All shipboard lockout tag out procedures shall be followed by the contractor.

6.0 QUALITY ASSURANCE REQUIREMENTS:

6.1 All Electrical work shall be performed in accordance with ABS, USCG, and IEEE-45.

7.0 STATEMENT OF WORK

7.1 Arrangement/Outfitting:

7.1.1 Provide Staging/Scaffolding as required below Engineers Storeroom and HV switchboards and above MDG’s.

7.1.2 Provide JLG, Lift, or staging in Helo Hanger to gain access to access trunk for Emergency Switchboard.

7.2 Structural:

7.2.1 Removals

7.2.1.1 Provide labor and materials to remove any foundations, brackets, Ventilation ducts that may be in way of the installation and removal of equipment.

7.2.2 Installations

7.2.2.1 Provide labor and materials to weld to deck GFM foundations for the following Equipment to be installed in Electric Shop

a. UPS CPCHV25KVA120-MOD #2

7.2.2.1.a.1 Shipyard to provide a ½” Steel plate to be welded on existing foundation and to allow the new foundation to be welded in place without having to remove insulation from below.

b. Battery Bank CPC10BATT-130V #2

7.2.2.1.b.1 Shipyard to provide a ½” Steel plate to be welded on existing foundation and to allow the new foundation to be welded in place without having to remove insulation from below.

c. Battery Charger ARE-M13035A #2

7.2.2.2 Provide labor and materials to weld to deck GFM foundations for the following Equipment to be installed in Engineers Storeroom

a. UPS CPCHV25KVA120-MOD #1

b. Battery Bank CPC10BATT-130V #1

c. Battery Charger ARE-M13035A #1

7.2.2.3 Provide labor and materials to weld GFM foundations for the following Equipment in passageway Engineers office 2-67-2.

a. Install Isolation Transformer #1

b. Install Isolation Transformer #2

c. Drill holes and install 4 each Deck Tubes for the isolation Transformers

7.3 Mechanical:

7.3.1 Removals

7.3.1.1 Provide Rigging Support to remove the following Equipment from EOS.

a. Remove #1 Propulsion UPS

b. Remove #2 Propulsion UPS

c. Remove #1 AMCS UPS

d. Remove #2 AMCS UPS

7.3.1.2 Provide Rigging Support to remove the following Equipment from Engineers Storeroom.

a. Remove #1 Main & SS Swbd Control Power UPS

b. Remove #2 Main & SS Swbd Control Power UPS

7.3.2 Installations

7.3.2.1 Provide Rigging Support to install the following Equipment in EOS

a. UPS #1 Control Cabinet, GFM, Item #1

b. UPS #1 Distribution Cabinet, GFM, Item #2

c. UPS #2 Control Cabinet, GFM, Item #3

d. UPS #2 Distribution Cabinet, GFM, Item #4

7.3.2.2 Provide Rigging Support to install the following Equipment in Engineers Storeroom.

a. Install Battery Bank #1 Rack, GFM Item #9

b. Install Battery Charger #1, GFM, Item #11

c. Install MCCS #1 UPS, GFM Item #7

7.3.2.3 Provide Rigging Support to install the following Equipment in Electricians Work Shop.

a. Install Battery Bank #2 Rack, GFM Item #10

b. Install MCCS #2 UPS, GFM Item #8

c. Install Battery Charger #2, GFM, Item #12

7.3.2.4 Provide Rigging Support to install the following Equipment in passageway Engineers office 2-67-2.

a. Install Isolation Transformer #1, GFM Item #5

b. Install Isolation Transformer #2, GFM Item #6

7.4 Modifications: None

7.5 Electrical

7.5.1 Removals – No Shipyard Support Required.

7.5.2 Installations – As required, Provide Welding Support for hangers, brackets, and Cable Bulkhead tubes to include gas free, fire watch, welder, and testing.

7.6 Electronics:

7.6.1 Removal – No Shipyard Support Required.

7.6.2 Installation – No Shipyard Support Required.

7.7 Preparation of Drawings: No Shipyard Support Required.

7.8 Testing and Inspecting: Shipyard to provide any necessary testing and inspection for all work they perform.

7.9 Painting: Paint all new and disturbed surfaces to match surrounding surfaces.

7.10 Marking: No Shipyard Support Required.

7.11 Manufacturer's Representative: GE and Custom Panel and Controls are providing direction and the UPS system to accomplish the installation under a separate contract. The intent of the work item is for the Shipyard to provide Support Services to accomplish the UPS upgrade installation.
