REQUEST FOR SPECIFICATION CLARIFICATION
NAME OF CONTRACTOR:
SPECIFICATION ITEM NO.:911
PARAGRAPH / SECTION NO:Various
TITLE: SPUR LINE CUTTERS
QUESTION:
1. Paragraphs 4.2 – 4.2.2 lists Spurs cutter and rope guard anodes as Government
Furnished Material (GFM). Paragraph 7.3.1 states to furnish new line cutter system identified in paragraph 3.2.1 and install the new system in accordance with reference 2.1.2. Are the Spurs cutter systems GFM? Are the anodes GFM?
What paragraph installs the anodes? There is no paragraph 2.1.2?
2. Paragraph 7.2 has a note that the removal of the rope guards is addressed in paragraph 7.3.3 of work item 910, Stern Tube Seal Maintenance. Work item 910 is titled Stern Tube Seal Replacement and paragraph 7.3.3 does not address rope guard removal?
3. Paragraph 7.6.1 refers to reference 2.1.1 and 2.1.2. Reference 2.1.2 was not identified or provided?
4. Paragraph 7.6.2 requires “as built” drawings reflecting modifications and installations. Are there modifications to be accomplished that are not addressed in the work item?
ANSWER:
1. Paragraphs 4.2 – 4.2.2 Spur line cutters were incorrectly listed Government
Furnished Material (GFM) and should have been identified as Contractor
Furnished Material (CFM). Line Item 7.3.1 stands to furnish and install new spur line cutters. Work item also incorrectly make reference to paragraph 2.1.2. Please ignore. There is no paragraph 2.1.2. Replacing of anodes is covered in “B Item
913 Zinc Anodes.
2. Paragraph 7.2 incorrectly references removal of rope guards as covered in Work
Item 910. Removal of rope guards is more accurately covered in paragraph 7.3.2
